Does any one else think that it would have made more sense if Shen Nuo was also a player in the game instead of an NPC? He pushed so much of the plot, and if he always does what he did, it's no wonder the actual player would unlock and succeed in the "secret mission" ...

wich toxic message? thanks in advance
sorry, I don't remember the end of this show anymore ... or the whole story in general (guess it was really not that good and easily forgettable) ... I think it might have been sth about how they try to justify all wrong-doings with "I was in love"

Can we please talk about how big a hypocrite the female lead character is? It seems that all these blatant self-sacrificing Mary-Sues eventually end up the opposite of what the writer intended. I actually enjoyed the show although the pace became horribily slow, but then I dropped it like a hot potato only 3 episodes shy of the end, because the female lead character became unbearable! --Here's my issue: She insistently tries to "comfort" Le Xue's boyfriend despite him telling her repeatedly that he wants to be left alone. Sure, she is worried, but the things she then says ... "Oh, I don't know your pain but I can imagine, so I'm in pain as well." B*tch are you trying to comfort your friend or just looking for sympathy for yourself?! (Excuse my language ... had to get that off my chest.)

Yes, it does seem like lazy writing. However, considering the circumstances it does make sense.

Food and eating is a huge part of Chinese culture. In China the phrases "How are you?" and "Have you eaten yet?" are interchangeable.
The book, this drama is based on, is called "杉杉来吃“ which means "Shanshan comes to eat" (the drama is just called "Shanshan has arrived"). This is also a pun on the Chengyu (= Chinese idiom) "姗姗来迟" which means "to be arriving late".
And quite frankly, eating is kind of their thing. It's how they first get to know each other. Also, it is often stated that the single thing that Shanshan is absolutely obsessed with is food.

The English title of this show is extremely misleading. The original Chinese title "Qi Feng Dui Shou" is a chengyu (=Chinese idiom) and means "meeting a worthy opponent in chess". With this in mind, this show makes much more sense and is very compelling to watch.
