You mentioned that Night Flight and Cutter aren’t BL coz they focus on the ugly side of life and unhealthy relationships, I think that’s a bit absurd. Isn’t it true that themes like forbidden relationships, depictions of rape and tragedy are commonly depicted in BL? They also come in diverse range of genres such as high school love comedy, period drama, science fiction and fantasy, and even detective fiction.

not sure but for me i think it's safe to say that ratings are a reflection how good a particular drama is, and that includes the chemistry between it's main leads. so its rather incredibly unlikely that a pairing with lackluster on screen chemistry will yield successful ratings
