Worth watching!
Just finished the epilogue for Moonlight mystique… had a minor cry fest finishing this series, but like in a good way? Some dramas you watch until the end and it’s a let down… glad to review that for me MM is the completely the opposite and gets really good in the end. There is a good payoff in the final arc, and all the loose ends get tied up. There are no weird plot holes, and all the characters are smart and behave logically throughout. Would characterize this series as HE in my book, with just the right amount of bittersweetness. I do think that the drama starts out strong but probably had one too many side quests in the middle, so that it was harder to build a narrative momentum for a bit… but again in the end the story really came together very nicely, so that the sum was better than the parts. Did think that the last arc, which was the most interesting of all, could have been extended for an even better show.In terms of casts - loved (🥰) the main couple, and eventually also the second couple… just about no fast forwarding needed. The main leads, played by Bai Lu and Ao Rui Peng, were one of the most supportive, green-flag couples in all of drama land, which I appreciate. I thought the acting was good and would really hit me emotionally at different points in the show. BL I’ve always thought has a way of making the audience relate to her, and plays sweet/spunky heroines quite well and does so here as well. ARP, who is completely new to me, I think will probably take off soon based on his performance here. And honestly on a superficial level there was just SO much eye candy. The leads are pretty, the sidekicks are pretty, minor characters in the side plots are pretty… everyone’s unusually attractive (apart from the eternals, ironically).
Anyway, I would recommend for anyone on the fence to give this a try, and to stick to the end. Try to avoid spoilers if you can for a better experience.
