From the way i see it, it's seeing her dressed like a girl in ep 5 that sets off the sparks in his heart so I would assume he is straight since he is attracted to her as a girl, it's just because he is so in love with her that he doesn't care what gender she is. As to why he was treating her like a girl before that is possible because he may unknowingly know she is a girl as far as I know each gender gives off different pheromones so he's not attracted to her because she is a dude. he is attracted to her for her. I don't know if I'm explaining it well but I hope you all know what I mean.
So he finds out in ep 11 that she is a girl, they just don't show it till the last episode? that is much better I thought he didn't find out until the last episode and that would have been a bit weird tbh like just out of nowhere in the last episode "oh wow he's a girl".
Also I honestly find it horrible and unbelievable how she could lie to him all that time, especially since they seem to be in a relationship later in the drama, how could you be dating someone and lying about your gender.......that's not fair to him.

Lao Gao doesn't know who it was though, he said if she found out it was from someone she didn't know she wouldn't be able to get over it, we don't know if he knows who did it or not, I would assume he doesn't ^^ and that is true about something changing her mind in the next episode. As of now I still think it's the criminal guy, it is a bit too obvious it's him but you never know which road something will go, sometimes they make something so obvious to throw you off and reveal it to be something very different but other times they make something so obvious to make you think it's not going to be the truth but then it actually is the truth so who knows but with dramas it tends to be the latter so I'm voting for the criminal but as you stated, there is many possibilities, this drama is overall a lighthearted dramas before they brought in the rape which I seen coming, so I don't think it will got too much darker, but then again can something go darker than rape even, either way, no matter who the father is it's unfavourable though because she was raped, it doesn't matter if it was someone close to her you still wouldn't want the child anymore than you did if it was a stranger so i guess I haven't clue what will happen next but I don't think the father is what changes her mind about keeping him assuming he does get born, I don't see them ending the drama with him being not born lol.

Your first point actually crossed my mind ONLY because of thinking if the writers wanted to go with a big twist though, especially since it's way too obvious that it would be the criminal guy especially considering the look he gave after Ya Juan left to look for Jin Qin before she was raped, BUT i only think there is a possibility of it being Jin Qin just for the twist, i can't see it happening otherwise and I think it would be really twisted and messed up considering how much he has shown to love Ya Juan and how nice he seems,and I can't imagine the writers building up a romantic relationship for 15 episodes with those two just for him to rape her, that is so fucked up so i hope they don't go there, especially since I like Jin Qin and frankly I don't believe he would ever do something like that so. I still think it's the future criminal until proven otherwise, it is far too obvious it's him yes but a lot of the times in dramas, the obvious is the outcome.
Finished it, not as good as the original imo since they can't really be recreated, it's a classic but it's a decent attempt, over culture differences though it has a different feel to it but I do recommend it too, it was overall okay, it just wasn't as deep as the original and they changed too much of the iconic scenes which didn't go well with me, but I love the original so I'd watch any story of it.
Just finished it, and episodes 1-15 were really good, but then episodes 16-20 were......lol the typical drama for the sake of drama method but i didn't find it ruined the drama, I mean it still had 15 good episodes imo and not to mention the charm of this drama for me was Fei Fei and Yu An, I adored them and all their development and was so happy to see them end up together <3 I did like the main couple a lot but I actually preferred their dynamics when he was blind, I really did not expect to love a side couple this much though lol they had their own story and it was so cute.
As for the side couple, I actually absolutely love the priest and Fei Fei, i don't think I've ever liked the side couple this much lol why does forbidden love always attract me, I'm currently on ep 15 and praying to god my ship will sail but i doubt it, I don't see him giving up being a priest even though after her confession, him holding his cross seemed to me like he liked her too but i don't see it happening, which kind of makes me wonder why the writers spent so much time developing them but idk^^
