I thought this series was going to be a train wreck and it wasn't. But I still question why GMM made a BL set…
The writer and director is Catholic and has wanted to make this story for a while and gmmtv gave him permission essentially, that’s why

Joe doesn’t exist in the novel so can’t tell more than what the show shows, but I don’t think so!

if anyone understood or has read the novel, please tell me what did father mean when he said it's been almost…
In the novel they explain something about kongdech having been stationed overseas for some voluntary work or something. So it’s 30 years ago since barthtanrak finished school, 20 years ago since kongdech went overseas, now he’s back and finally getting ordained

Hmmm... I would be careful with such characterisation. As a gay man I would say NO, it is not. It's beautiful…
A lot of people did resonate with it but also completely fair a lot didn’t. As for wanting s world without religion, is a fair view, but then why did you sit down watching a show about faith? From the trailer and all the promo and again the creators of the show being religious, you’d know it would be about faith in a hopeful light?

And that’s entirely valid! The director also did say ahead of the series airing it would probably be criticised because there’s gonna be the queer people who sees themself in tanraks story and then there’s going to be the ones who don’t and feel like it wasn’t the right choice. All feelings are valid on it!

The director is queer himself and Catholic still, so that’s why I think he chose such ending, as it’s also partly based on himself. I agree Tanrak moving on would’ve also been nice but I didn’t expect it given the creator wanted to show queer people can have faith too

I do understand that, I just also understand that wasn’t the story ticket to heaven was trying to tell and it’s okay that you didn’t like it. It’s supposed to be a hopeful story for religious queers, and I understand you don’t fancy that, I just wanted to point out it was based on real life stories when you said it couldn’t be realistic. I didn’t expect the series to paint the religion terribly, as the director got all freedom for the production from the company and he’s Catholic so. A series dwelling into the dark aspects would be nice too but should probably be made by a gay man who isn’t stil religious

I need to stress again that when people say it’s unrealistic, it is based on real stories from the 90s and 00s. The director and script writer himself was a gay Catholic teen. I understand there are other perspectives to take, absolutely, but saying it’s unrealistic when it’s based on real stories and experiences isn’t it 😭

Message from the director + screen writer Aof 😭:

Normally, when a series ends, we say, "It's time to send the characters back into the novel." But for me, Barth and Tanrak existed in my heart even before the novel and before this series came into being...

So today, I'm not sending them anywhere. I'm letting Barth and Tanrak continue to live on... in everyone's beautiful memories.

I want to thank everyone behind the scenes who contributed to making this series happen. I'll refrain from mentioning everyone by name to avoid missing anyone. They are all the people who made Ticket to Heaven what it is today. Thank you GMMTV for always giving me freedom, even knowing how risky it was to tell this story.

Thank you to the lovely actors: Jeminine, Fourth (see you again soon!), Bright, Achi, P' Nok, P' Aun, Pun, Mook, Keen, Zee, To, Guitar, Mantra, and all the supporting actors who believed in these characters and brought them to life more beautifully than I ever imagined.

Thank you to all the mentors who gave me advice, knowledge, and trust, allowing me to tell this story with respect for their beliefs. Thank you to the individuals who shared their experiences with me; it was truly invaluable. Thank you for all the support you've sent through messages, reviews, reactions, feedback, and criticisms. I sincerely accept them all. Most importantly, thank you to every viewer from everywhere who has opened their hearts and journeyed with us from day one until today.

Finally...
If the series "Ticket To Heaven" has left anything for everyone, I hope it's the belief that...

We can love God and love ourselves at the same time.

May all love and faith always be with everyone.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Aof Noppanat Chaiwimol

Is it true that the story of Ticket to Heaven is PAof’s own story? I just saw some posts about it on a few pages.
Somewhat yes! It’s both inspired by aof himself and other religious queer stories! He did a lot of research and got many personal stories from queer people who are religious, when developing the script! And the novel is based on the script. P aof is Catholic himself and has had a boyfriend for over 20 years. Here’s a clip where Gemini teases he wants to know who aof is of Barth and tanrak , seems like he’s Barth. Which makes TTH such a sweet love letter to his irl partner given how devoted and in love Barth is with Tanrak! https://x.com/issaayd/status/2073412169434308772?s=46

Geminifourth and Aof Can be truly happy with themselves. They created a masterpiece thats so important for so many queer religious people who lived this experience, the series was phenomenal and served in the end, as a warm hug, that you can love yourself and god at the same time 🩷

It’s a happy ending in the novel and the novel is based on the script for the show so you should be good :)

The novel has a happy ending, and the show has already made it clear that this isn't meant to be a sad story.…
I personally think it’ll be a happy ending, because the director is gay himself and was a teen in 1996, and catholic so I think if reflects a lot of his real life experiences.

At least I can’t really see how they’ll fit it in anymore so it makes sense, this far in the story

I don’t think it’ll fit in the story’s plot line even though I understand it was very cool in the concept trailer. But it would’ve been weird to ask in ep5 since tanrak already knows

So... did I miss it or they did cut THAT scene? That one question Tanrak asked father in trailer?
He only asks that in the mock trailer, the script was developed almost two years after the mock trailer, which was just a concept one, so I’m not sure they kept it. Since tanrak clearly already knows he won’t go to heaven liking a boy, where in the mock trailer he asks first thing

The writer is p aof himself. And the actors actually has shown a lot of love for the script — it’s fair you…
Also for Fourth, they also told us some scenes in episode 2 was actually heavier but fourth personally requested to adjust them to be a little less, so it’s plenty heavy for him. Be also described having a lot of issues going home from set depressed etc in the beginning because it was heavy :) he’s been praising the script a lot
