i read through the comments after the synopsis and it seemed worthwhile to watch. i probably expected too much, so it's not much of a shock that it did not meet my expectation. so all in all, it was mediocre at best, nothing special. wouldn't recommend it to anyone but wouldn't put up a fight to discourage them from watching it either.
Just finish this drama and it's was MARAVILLOSO, I need to buy a new box of tissues -This drama left me in a swimming…
i see you replied to quite a few dramas and for some reason i started to look out for them. i use them to weed out the bad dramas. all the more reason for me to add them to my list.
I can't understand the hype, because I cannot get beyond the first episode. All this "fan-girl-behviour"…
Your right. I can't deny that it wasn't a good show; and I'm not disregarding this series, it's just like you said 'tastes differ'. It’s just that from what WhiteLilly wrote, I feel she would be better suited to watch 1988 because it has less of the stuff which seemed to annoy her.
Just like reply 1994, I enjoyed it and could see the nostalgic effect it has and also love the smaller details of the representation of that era. From the tamagochi to the phones and computers with the run down websites. I loved it all.
But I think 1988 focusing on other aspects made it far more appealing to me. I loved that they delved into the love for your friends, neighbours, siblings and parents. The strong bonds that they had was what captivated me and made it hard for me to let go of them.
Damn! I guess I’m watching it AGAIN!

after reading your comment, stick to not watching it till the end. I've watched all three in the series and personally would only recommend watching reply 1988. I would rate that 9/10. It's much more enjoyable to watch without the annoying hyper-fan shenanigans. I love that they also delve a lot more into the family/friends in the show and have better side stories. To me it seemed refined with a better flow between each episode.
Don't get me wrong, this drama wasn't bad; I just believe it's way too overrated.
Are the reply series linked to one another? because when i looked through the cast, it seems to have some of the same characters. I started off with this one and have now begun 94; but for some reason they have a different set of kids but have the same names? what's going on here?
I laughed so much because of Ryu Dong Ryong in Reply 1988; he played the role so well! They were all unique and managed to keep a smile on my face all the way through the show. I guess i'm going to watch the other Reply series as well.
personally, i think Ahn Jae Mo was the best actor in this; followed by Kim In Kwon. the rest - meh! the story line was alright but kind of seemed dull and depressing but this was often riveted back to plause by the comedy/action/drama. it's something that should be watched but doesn't matter if you skip. good movie though; i mostly enjoyed watching it (p.s. this is just my opinion)

On another note, i just finished 1994, and 1988 is way better. Going to start 1997 now, hopefully it's as great as the reviews say it is!
