i agree with you about childish or overly dramatic dramas. not a fan of those. i LOVE a slow burn romance. but YAMG lacked depth for me personally. paper thin plot, but can't really be called slice of life either because the premise is so out there and kind of unrelatable (how many of us are celebrities needing to hide away from the world). it's a cute and inoffensive drama with good looking leads to keep you captivated, but bland and overrated IMO.

it didn't seem like they were friends 10 years ago. more like acquaintances, he didn't even add her to his chat or whatever. i'm just saying all is easier forgiven when you're good looking. not that there's anything wrong with physical attraction. i just think the initial start of their relationship is rather superficial

i found it pretty boring. leads are eye candy for sure, but that only works for so long. both lead characters are just really self-involved in their own way. if the actors were not so good looking, this wouldn't be as popular as it is. he just broods all the time and she acts cutesy to get her way. to be fair, i only watched about half way through before losing interest.

Nope please check your info. Nowhere does it say AO3 was going to be banned specifically. And XZ fans 100% DID report a fic, that is not deniable, there is proof.. That said, I'm not saying the reporting caused AO3 to be banned, it might have been anyway, but the timing just sucked (why couldn't the stupid fans just wait until March 1, why did they have to report it at all). The worst thing about all this is that poor XZ got blamed for it, not the stupid fans who reported it.

True you have to use your own judgement but overall I find Twitter mostly positive and doesn't seem as toxic as what I've heard of weibo. I had the opposite reaction. Saw the drama a long time ago but didn't really like it. Took 2 seasons and many many episodes but still didn't resolve anything. Almost didn't see the movie because didn't want to sit through it again.

But I actually quite liked the movie! It was like a highlights version of the drama. With the exception of Bi Yao, I like movie version actors better. I like Yang Zi but she practically had Botox face in the whole drama, absolutely zero expression/feeling. Li Qin emoted slightly better. I adore Xiao Zhan so I'm slightly biased, he's much better eye candy than Li Yi Feng. They both play dumb just fine but I think Xiao Zhan is slightly better at portraying his anguish after turning evil. Agree with you though that the voices/voice actors were pretty annoying at times.

I had really low expectations given the mixed reviews and my general dislike for CGI-heavy movies, but I actually enjoyed it! CGI was surprisingly pretty decent. I think it helps that I saw it in theater, and also that I already knew the general plot from the drama version. I can see how it would be really confusing for people not familiar with the story. Prefer Xiao Zhan over Li Yi Feng. Monkey stole the show.

I have heard of XZ & WYB fandoms fighting, which always struck me as odd because XZ and WYB are friends (so shouldn't their fans be friends too? lol).

I'm trying to pinpoint why I'm getting a negative vibe from Yu Bin. And I think it's because he says these things behind others' back (or when they're not around), which makes him seem malicious even if he doesn't mean to be. WYB also jokes around and calls XZ names, but does it right in front of XZ's face lol.

WBY is known for being blunt and straightforward too. But he doesn't say anything negative or controversial about colleagues. And it's not like Yu Bin can claim youth as an excuse, he's the same age as XZ!

That said, I do get the sense that Yu Bin is a little bitter/jealous of the success XZ and WYB has gotten for this drama, Even if the things he says are said in jest, there's probably underlying kernel of true feelings. I don't see any of the other cast saying anything that can be misconstrued.

Not everyone can tolerate ads. Youtube or Viki is not free to watch without ads (but I'm glad it's still available).

I thought the Meng Ziyi backlash was not done by bjyx shippers, but by fans of the novel? So that the drama producers wouldn't change the story to a hetero relationship?

Can you explain what Yu Bin meant in context in this case? My Chinese is not good enough to be able to tell what he meant if not being malicious. Was he just joking around?

Drama would not have been as successful as it is if Yu Bin had been WWX. No offense but I don't find Yu Bin attractive at all. I don't think he can even play 2nd male lead, much less leading male role.
