Lovely Runner is such a drama and due to its popularity, Netflix then released it
don,'t know this drama and don't plan to watch it, reminds me of extraordinary you so didn't want to watch the same trope again and it had a controversial debat whether or not this drama is based on Jonghyun (SHINee)
I agree, I was surprised to discover they could not and since now they work with the platform they can, and apparently they are too expensive for the TV, mainly because the TV doesn't have the same funds as the streaming platforms
I agree we could say that we have an overflow of drama nowadays but I think that is what keeps the thrive for me, I'm always looking for the drama that's gonna be "like it used to be". I feel now the drama created by streaming platforms often lacks something, the plot could be wonky, or the acting is off. Also when you said the tropes are often the same, I feel now writers are not doing new dramas anymore they are interpreting webtoons into drama. Also due to the fact that the streaming platform hires actors apparently now actors are negotiating their salaries which is a huge problem for the Korean TV platform which cannot to afford hire actors anymore so we can only have shows made by the streaming platform and rarely from Korean tv like before. I think that's what plays into the quality of drama nowadays. The part about actor negotiating their salary is something I read a few months ago and haven't heard of it since then.
