I thought nothing will beat LBFAD but yet, here we are.
I believe the production quality of this particular drama is on a completely different level. I think many other viewers would agree that even the special effects, something we used to complain about in the past, are practically flawless this time. Any potential issues are barely noticeable.
All the scenes that likely involved actors being suspended on wires are done so naturally that you barely notice it. Nothing feels forced or artificial. I also found that far fewer elements of the world felt fake or overdone. Everything looked incredibly natural and realistic, which is a huge achievement and a sign of real technological progress in production.
Of course, I also have to mention the casting. It’s absolutely perfect. The chemistry between the ML and FL is unmatched. What makes this series truly exceptional, though, is that nothing is ever completely obvious. No one is simply good or bad.
The plot twists are mind-blowing. I often found myself rewatching certain scenes two or three times just to fully understand what had happened. Overall, I think the series is simply phenomenal.
What I especially appreciate is the balance of power between the male and female characters. We rarely see productions where this dynamic feels so genuine and equal. We need more stories with strong, complex women like Ming Yi rather than Fairy characters who are lower in cultivation level.
If anyone has any doubts about whether it’s worth watching, YES, absolutely. I also hope that the book the series is based on will be translated into English soon.
