Thanks for this review, I was literally just about to watch this - I'll spend my time watching something else now and leave this for a time when i'm desperate for something to watch. I recently watched "I remember you" and I think that's quite a good example of a show that successfully does romcom/melodrama/thriller all at the same time
For those who are taking the girls side doesn't mean you all in the right either. Anyone can tell a story…
I completely agree with you, but at the same time, I really can't watch something with him in it. I tried to watch Sungkyunkwan Scandal but every time his sincere face came on the screen I just dropped straight out of the drama and back to reality and couldn't muster the mood to keep watching.
imagine if the secret plan had been clearer and they could have used that time to have some more interesting plot points. I felt a bit used after watching this drama
I love this review. I am a JKS's hair fan girl and really liked this drama, your review made me laugh out loud. It's really well written and has good solid points that i mostly agreed with especially your take on "my precious" (what a terrible song) and the parents. Mostly I liked this drama for the hair and the (totally accidental) comedy and I really liked Kim Hyo Jin as Seo Joon, she was an excellent character.
I always feel that dramas are overacted in the first few episodes and then settle down and thought the same about Kim Hee Sun in the early episodes of Faith but you were completely correct when you said "At first I found Kim Hee Sun's character Eun Soo quite irritating and annoying. But who could blame her?! She got kidnapped and sent to the past; I would be whiny and angry as well. At things developed, Eun Soo managed to adapt to her situation and I fell in love with her. She is a very strong character, and I couldn't imagine anyone but Kim Hee Sun portraying her."
When I really stopped and thought about how I would behave had I been kidnapped by a blood spilling warrior from the past I think I may have been a bit screechy too. I really think she was wonderful.
You know, I've been trying to figure out what I liked about LMH and KHS's portrayal of a growing relationship and you really hit the nail on the head when you said "I liked the pace of the relationship, too. It was slow and steady, but I believed it. It was truly beautiful if you ask me". There were no overblown declarations, it was so respectful, and really didn't resort to gender cliches. My heart broke when he asked her if he was still too far away from her.
"This show doesn't seem to know how good it is" That's exactly it. It's so good, it's by far my favourite. Gi Cheol is the best bad guy ever. Kim Hee Sun was excellent. I didn't understand why everyone liked Lee Min Ho so much until I saw this. He really can act; he was perfect.
I completely agree with your review. I don't understand what people like about this drama. I'd like to address your questions "What was the point of Watanabe?" He's there so they all get to hang out together, but that's it.
I'll watch anything that she's in because, she's an excellent actor and due to the roles she chooses, I know that the female character will be strong and have a story line that shows her accomplishments, not just her life as it relates to the man in the drama. The only drama of hers that i stopped watching was "Man of Honor" because it was ridiculous. The CEO was evil in such a ridiculously over blown way, that the excellent actors could do nothing to rescue the stupid script. there is no need for that much melodrama.
