The way I see it is that he prefers the younger grandchildren because they seem actually competent to him. The older siblings, although legitimate, have failed his expectations.

It was said in the second episode, in the after funeral scene, that the mother fell in love with another guy, but the grandpa didn't approve of him or her divorcing her husband. The husband also didn't agree to the divorce because he wanted to keep the money and status. So I assume she had no choice but to separate from her husband and left with her new man. That's why these two youngest boys are illegitimate.

What the heck was that ending? They should have just left it off at the 15th anniversary celebration.

I was thinking the same but I have some doubts like the posture and way of walking are different. The secretary is lean and energetic. The guy in the raincoat was shown as bulkier and walking heavier, sometimes even dragging his feet. 🤔

Everyone's focusing on the main leads or second leads and whether there is any romance, but what about the beautiful romance that we can actually see between the auntie and the detective or the bff and the French teacher? The romance tag fits here 🙂

Honestly I have seen way too little interaction or too superficial interactions between the FL and 2ML to say clearly that they have a connection beyond a mere crush (and mostly on her side,he might have ulterior motives). She knows almost nothing about him. He doesn't really talk to her about anything deep that would give her a better understanding of him, only a few tiny pieces of information here and there. He has motives we don't know anything about either, just assumptions. He might be just gravitating towards the FL because her mother was also a victim of that politician, if he is actually a mind reader and saw everything in the memories of the politician or other townies. But FL is still oblivious to everything and is only now discovering about her mother's past.

Finally someone I can agree with :) Crushes based on looks are so shallow and fleeting and not a sign of a deep connection at all.

That's the beauty of things, we all experience things differently. I see chemistry when you don't see chemistry and vice versa. Either way, it doesn't matter if they expand this or that story arc, this is s great mystery show to me and I don't need anything more of it :)

I am totally rooting for the ML as he suits the FL so well, if they decide to expand on the romance subplot.
The 2ML is like 10 years younger than FL with her being 35 and him being in a grad school. I have nothing against age gaps, but these two are clearly on different paths in life, despite having similarities/connections in their family situations and the current case. I only sense friendly vibes there.

This is definitely a slow burner romance between the ML and FL. The focus of the drama is the mystery and comedy, the romance part is on the back burner. I can see them getting more and more involved with each other and care for each other, but it's very subtle and not shown like in typical romantic comedies.

From the preview I would say that it looked more like it might have been shaman's first murder attempt. So not sure he is the serial killer. For sure, with every episode the mystery deepens and the plot is keeping me on my toes.

a dvd version is usu released abt 6 months after the cinema premiere.

There is a second season, but without Ye Hua as his character wasn't much in the book.

So Young and First Time are one of his earlier movies that I enjoyed, but they are rather sad.
