Well grandma is poisoned and he gets blamed for it in the last 4. It's not about just the story of mom from 20…
By ep 35 every baddies gang up against him though. Even having their dirty lil meeting of 101 ways to get rid of Li Qian. He has became the common enemy. Everybody wants Li Qian's head on the table for their supper.
So him being framed as grandma's murderer doesnt bother me that much. It's bigger than simple story of mom some 20 years ago. That very plot somehow, only to serve the rift between him and Baoning.
Now, the issue is whether the scriptwriters (and or the editors) can make this plot believable or not.
I want to see Li Qian intense gaze, so im planning on watching the final 4 eps. π
Same as me. I am dissapointed with baoning. Bec she still close with Zhao Xiou. She give him hope π. Li qian…
I see the problem with many drama like this is the FL usually has close relationship with the SML. At least here SML is lil evil, not some soft warm understanding all smile character.
That's why im not really into romance genre for the very reason. It's just.... Ugh...
I originally watched only to find out why so many people wishing Li Qian to die. Turn out it's such a tensed episode, quite sentimental at the same time. Performed well especially by the three individuals i mentioned π
Finished watching eps 35-36, and im not disappointed nor will I rant. Tbh, I enjoy every minute of these 2 episodes especially ep 35.
The writing was compact, the plot was neat, and the conflict was engaging. If the direction was like this since the very beginning it's easily getting an 8 point from me. I could careless about the romance because these 2 episodes treated romance as just a plot device for the characters to move forward.
I can finally see why so many bloggers and or regular viewers on weibo seem to be inclined more towards Li Qian. These diverse array of emotions Joseph infused into the character is endearing if not sometimes, heart breaking to watch.
While Baoning, i really dont know if it's because how the character is written or JJY's interpretation, Baoning does feel lack of emotion. Logically, she supposed to experience similar tormented feeling like her better half. After all those BS episodes we suppose to believe she loves Li Qian to the moon and back. But from what I saw in eps 35-36, she didnt show an ounce of it at all, not even a glance of conflicted love expression no matter what the poor guy does.
I can also understand why many wishing Li Qian dies in his final battle. I dont wish the same, but if he did die I wont complain. I need my tears fix that I shed seeing Li Qian with that cat in his lap (combined with that SAD music playing in the background, damn). Poor guy could only dream, π’
those were two good rare episodes this drama can have. I hope the last 4 episodes will be good as well.
In acting department, aside from Joseph and the actress playing Grandma, the kid playing the little emperor also gave believable impactful performance. He fight very hard not to tear up being pressured by the adults in the court room. Stealing a glance at Li Qian or the eunuch for a help they couldnt provide. Afterall he's just a kid in a sea of greedy people. Thankfully grandma came to his rescue.
So, that's all i want to say. Likely next week im going back watching this drama for its last 4 episodes.
Novoland pearl eclipse is 1st in tv series. RFY is 1st in web series. They are in diff. category
Im not sure what category Vlinkage pull their data from but 2 days ago RFY down at 2nd place after keep reigning at 1st since its airing.
Thought Pearl Eclipse will continue the reign since the number was quite high 86% something while RFY maintaining in 73-77. Yesterday Pear Eclipse number was bellow 70.
For me this is weird. Considering how bad RFY is and the super talk full of viewers bad mouthing the scriptwriter yet the number never really decline below 70 π. You know, the very reason this kind of BS will keep be produced π
Even Joseph's empathetic performance cant save this. But I agree he has a set of very emotive eyes.
From what i read from his fans wiebo he has a beef with his agency. Has a back and fort trials right now, but he's pretty much independent. young man is hella rich back home he survives those ugly agencies.
I guess that "look" really a double edge sword for JJY.
As of that scene where they told her she's pregnant, i saw it and her make up didnt really bother me as much as her expression. I cant really tell what's going on in the character head. They told her she's pregnant, basically her first child with the man she "supposedly" still very much in love despite the confrontation. Isnt she supposed to display more complex expression? What i saw was just the usual confused reaction. I dunno how as audience we suppose to believe she feels remotely anything? π

Im glad to know that Joseph is actually independent right now that no agency/individual controls his course of career projection. Cant say for many artists who get themselves on crazy contracts.
I dont think anyone on tencent/agency hates JJY bcoz it wont make sense. It's jst some people on her agency not willing to take any risk to present her in different look/light bcoz so many fans fall for her with this kind of image portrait.

She needs to let herself out of the comfort zone in order to improve. But not sure how her agency handle her acting career. Maybe she doesnt have a say and her agency decided everything for her. On top of that, her make up does distract me sometimes. Yet, i think we have this conversation before in this comment area that her agency will milk her popularity as long as they can without really aiming for improvent.
I saw that clip with her and Li Qian from ep 36 i believed, and she did lack that deep tormented/conflicted gaze/expression. It almost feel bland

I've long heard people complain about JJY's acting set. I personally think she's not bad, but yeah her range is very limited. It works in a more bubbly sassy kind of light drama setting, but she might not be suitable for a complex drama that require her to portray layer of emotions. Perhaps that's why many feel these contrast of acting skill.
probably because a lot of people just want that the baoning gets a sad ending something like that
Yeah I read several comments on weibo, and it seems the world gang up against Li Qian, even his dearest wife he treasures the most. Someone also mentioned about the cold night of Li Qian or something.
Now, it makes me want to watch just to see how bad it is, haha... π π€¦π½ββοΈ

Yeah, i read about those traffic actors/actress.
Money speak louder in this industry π€

Really, with all these criticism and complain im not sure why her agency not trying to improve anything.
At least tone down that heavy make up with red blood lipstick π©

Okay, maybe needs to check out ep 35-36 and comeback to make comments.
Everyone is trying to hurt him one way to another even his dearest.
