So here’s my take on the less than satisfying ending.
The drama is basically *about the characters of the novel Chunhwa Love Story, thus there’s a narration throughout.* In this novel, you have Princess Hwari who’s free-spirited and as how the whole drama unfolds, is wanting to choose her own husband, etc. In this novel too, Princess Hwari is the author of several volumes of Chunhwa Love Story. So when Hwari & Hwan got together at the fireworks scene, that’s their happy ending.
But the author of Chunhwa Love Story who details the story of Hwari is the one that added the epilogue to the reader (I didn’t get my dream come true so young people please live bravely and without regret, etc). And she’s not Hwari. That’s an anonymous person who’s the narrator. And Bomi (modern day Hwari) is reading this whole novel.
The present day characters have no real connection to the novel characters. Bomi is encouraged by the novel so decided to take the first step to approach Seunghyun, whom she’s curious about. (I’m not entirely convinced she’s attracted to him).
So in present day, whether Bomi & Seunghyun will end up together is unknown. Or whether she will end up with modern-day Choi Hwan, we don’t know.
That’s how I’m making sense of the unsatisfying ending.
Uh...not sure how to feel. I was happy when HW went to CH cause it seemed like they were getting their happy ending.…
Ughh same. That’s my take too. I already found it so frustrating that the show differed so much from the previews, and then focused more on The Crown Prince & Princess relationship than the leads. CP’s story is interesting, but the promos should have included all actors too then.
