I hope they resume the broadcast soon... In the meantime, I've read the novel, and I must say the drama follows it very closely, omitting only the most explicit moments. I'm curious how far this adaptation will go....

Oh my gosh yes, I know we only briefly mention Black in here, but that transplant sticks we me so much just cause…
It's interesting to note that the trope is reversed here: the person performing the transplantation is a villain (usually we'd have a "benevolent doctor" type) and the person with the transplant is not "augmented", on the contrary, he has a gaping hole in his heart shaped like his missing brother.

Thank you so much for this article and for sharing your experience! I have seen several dramas with transplantation theme (specifically heart transplant, a powerful social metaphor) and I can say that the most horrific and brutal heart transplant appeared in Black. Not only the gruesome circumstance, the horrendous consequences of this act, but the fact that one person (!) conducted the operation in a dilapidated clinic - made this an absolute horror to watch.
