This is funny! Jun Jin Young played the young grand kid in the original movie, now he is the main "love interest"? Will the script go where the original story would not?
This show is losing me plotwise. The little chess-players forget they are playing with the fate of entire countries. A princess treacherously running away from a political marriage to a friendly and crucially important potentate of a formidable and aggressive neighbour? How will they dig themselves out of this hole? Will the FL win the princess back with a game of baduk? I will continue watching for the amazing Jo Jung Suk.
Go easy on the FL actress here. I get it that she's not a Dame Judy Dench, but I think her acting is passable…
Yeah, next episodes look promising. Rumour has it there will be four? Let`s hope for some substantial developments in this surprisingly well paced drama.

It's not that she is not convincing as a male (what an understatement!), I made my peace with this ridiculous gender-bender portrayals in asian dramas years ago. It's her expression of emotion through shifty eyes in every closeup and her constantly open mouth I don't agree with. I know it is very difficult to portray the gravitas and the collected demeanour of well mannered people in historical dramas. You have to work very hard to find this fine spot between appearing vulgar and being a wooden plank. In my opinion, the actress did not find this sweet spot in her character. She is generally known for her overacting. However, she is a veteran of sageuks and, unfortunately, I haven't seen here most important dramas (Tree with Deep Roots and Six Flying Dragons). So maybe it's her creative choice. We'll see.
What an interesting plot! I hope it continues to keep the same intensity until the end. Still hoping for less monotone acting from Shin Saekyeong... For now, she is the only week link in this drama.
An amazing performance in AJTL. I knew she was talented what I saw her back in 2018 in Moonshine and Valentine. Congratulations and best luck with new interesting roles!
Sincerely, I was expecting a Life on Mars kind of ending, but censorship would not allow it. So we have this weird and depressing ending instead. That being said, this drama appeals to me more than the now airing Kunning Palace, both in terms of script and execution.
Agree! The real hero hero of the drama was the grandpa, spectacular in his ruthlessness, greed and vision. If you wanted a poem to the rotten grandeur of the "chaebol economic miracle", this show is perfect, but as a revenge drama it is simply ridiculous.
Can't they drop the rest of the episodes for few hours untill we dowload them and then they delete them and be…
We would all wish that, but unfortunately, if they do that, the gov'ment would punish everyone, directors and actors included. There have been some egregious examples lately.
What if CX reminds XY about her promise of getting married him when she reveals herself to be a princess? whether…
In the book, the promise made by the young kids was indeed to get married. But in the drama (ep1 and flashbacks), the girl clearly says "meimei", which means "younger sister". I don`t think the drama wanted to give the impression of a true marital engagement between the kids.
A weird question for the fans of the drama. I`m obsessed with the grey jade ring the Grand Princess wears on her index finger. Has anyone seen a similar piece of jewellery that can be purchased?
Even though I can't take Ok Taec Yeon seriously for some reason (two very obvious reasons actually), this drama has great potential! The first episode was a bit too campy, but the second one sets a better tone. I'm cheering for the drama to be a success!
Lee Sung Min's character easily eclipses anyone else in the drama. A realistic and honest portrayal of Jin Yang Cheol's accession to wealth and power would be very welcome indeed.
