This show is very wishy washy in its plots. Like the writer couldn't tell what direction they should take with any of the plot points they set up. Every plot point has been dragged on for episodes and episodes with no new developments, not what I would count anyway.
ML was just looking his father lackadaisically in the background for the majority of the show, and hyeon ju has just been rejecting seon uk for what feels like even longer, with no development or fundamental change at all. It would be one thing if the sister finding out changes their relationship in any way, but she was already one foot out the door anyway, so it was just more of the same.
Then we have the drinking subplots where the father and hyeon ju have been completely forgotten about, no depth gone into it in several episodes now and even with geum ju, it's been left by the wayside to make room for the nothingness of the ML's father subplot. Not that I miss it all that much but it was the main reason I started this show in the first place.
Furthermore, I usually enjoy a psycho parent subplot, they can be great fun. I really don't know how you can make a psycho parent subplot boring and predictable?? But they managed and they've been dragging it as well.
One positive I've enjoyed however is Geum Ju's mother's friendships and the scenes in Ep11 with her friend were really lovely. It did come out of nowhere a little bit, but it felt like a nice rounding of their relationship so far. Honestly Geum Ju's mother is the most interesting character in the whole show. She rocks.
If I could sum up this show in one word, it would be substanceless. It is lacking depth and direction.
Brutally dark. I can't love it, but I can't hate it. This show made me feel that pit of doom and despair in my belly after finishing. Tbh I don't recommend watching this. The pacing is weird, the romance is icky for the most part and the ending is... However the OST is beautiful, and Lee Jae Wook's acting, heartbreaking. It is a well plotted tragedy. Don't watch however unless your mental health has been way too good lately. There is something about this show that despite the fact I hated it almost the entire time I was watching it, I know that it will stay in my brain for a long time.
This show is not realistic at all about DID but it does some things right. I wonder they remake this? I would hope they change the FL's characterisation and obviously make the DID more realistic but then I guess not as entertaining. If anyone knows some good shows to do with DID like this. I've watched bad and crazy which is rlly good
i hope that they sort through all these misunderstandings
