I just came here to say Omo Omo Omo after the first 3 min..I knew it was 18+ but I didn't "sexcept" a full blown bomb in my face..going back I hear it turns around, will report after..
I came to report after 10 months..(I didn't even know I lefts this comment here)
I initially left it at 3 min but I don't know what made me pick it again yesterday but once the "paid corn actors" are out of the way from EP 5 that's where you start to understand the subject matter.. I honestly like the ML..he was an intelligent man, being a sex writer, I was surprised of his high EQ .His dialogues and speech flow well,he is not a man in a hurry,he wants to educate and make you understand that this is not a sprint but a journey. This drama us not for everyone, that's why it's R rated so be mindful of that when you watch.. As old as I am and being used to clean Asian dramas,I watched the nude scenes my eyes closed 😂 but I got the point they were trying to put a cross
NOTE:THE KISS SCENE THAT HAS 350 MILLION VIEWS ON YOUTUBE CAME FROM HERE
I watched this long time ago but back then MDL didnt exist and I have already had it of the list of my top 30 all time favorites so I had to rewatch it so that I can review it and am glad i did cos it felt like am watching itfor the first time. There was an Era in K-drama industry that produced really mind blowing projects(2011-2021)And Whats wrong with Sec Kim belongs to that Era..I have found myself avoiding anything that came after that.
Lee Young Joon is a typical Chaebol boy with charm and confidence the size of Mt Everest, and he knows itThis is the character that makes those peoplle who like to throw big words like "narcissist" "misogyny" will havea field day with.Did I mention he is also the King of 2018 Rizz and as his favorite quote goes,He oozes an "Aura"That makes everyone around him bow as he passes. He is a character you can choose to hate or love depending on which side of the highway you are standing on.but he has faults. He has a twisted past, entertwined with his brother and a dependency desorder to his Secretary who happenedto be part of the past he would wish to forget but has quietly resolved by keeping her close to him and to his heart.
Secretary Kim Mi Soo is Lee Young Joon's lifeline,She is the engine that circulate his oil but the day she decided to regign, his world comes crumbling down. She has had enough after 9 years together, not that he treated her wrongly but she has heldthis position long enough that she has forgotten who she is other than Sec Kim.THis anouncement mark the beggining of a very long drama of 16 episodes which i think could have been 12 but ok.
What I liked about LYJ was his intelligence and his confidence that If you are sensitive you might mistake is as arrogancy. His monologues that made this drama really enjoyable. It is not a bad thing to actually compliment yourself and Sec Kimhas gotten used to his self proclamations that she let him have his way.I kept laughing how he would turn something as simpleas "Am calling you because I miss you," to "Am calling because I dont want you to miss me"
What I can critises is the mismatch or imbalance in the chemistry formula.LYJ knew from day one when he was 8 and Sec Kim that he would love her forever and when that time came while they were adults,he gave his all to her but because she had been in this position for long,it became hard to separate the carrer and love. She was so immersed in being his secretary that when it cameto their relationship,it was impossible for her to shift emotions, something that they mentioned often, when he wanted to serve her or do something for her..This issue came through in the screen case i felt like she had this same posture and manerism even during theirintimate scenes.I kinda low-key wished she actually resigned so that her character can grow and bloom into something else.
Overall it was an engoyable watch. This is probably my 4th drama by the FL,she has proven that she is one of the best in the industry for a reason
I had put this on hold cos I know Ren is married and my delulu could never, but it kepy popping up here and there and i was hooked.Am somewhere in Ep 12,please someone tell me that ZCS gets better..Ok I and the viewers understand that his character is supposed to bethis nerd, clueless with a 190 IQ but hos can you be in love with your wife and freak out at every sign of intimacy.I really hope the roumours of him having a "non kissing/bed scenes" are not true.otherwise why would he pick theseprojects with kissing scenes tag in them.I might be wrong but everytime any intimate scene gets intense, the write throws in a line to cut the whole thing. If there is anyone who has watched other dramas with him please let me know in the comment Other than that,Am really ednjoying the pace and the reaxing mood its giving..
In search of J-drama that will not leave me burried in in tissue box,I contacted my man Sakaguchi Kentaro,Before I deep my feet in his just finished "What comes after love" I want to prepare myself for the angst I know will be in that drama. And I made the righ choice because this was one of those dramas that keep youon a life line..You want to punch the wall but at the same time you want to keep going so you can see how muchcharacter developement can one human go through in 10 episodes.
Japanese script writers are known to walk on a very thin line between normalcy and insanity and this project toppedthe list of "what are they smoking".The story was actually normal contract marriage trope, rich and stable ML with struggling FL,add a dose of an ML with extreme OCD,who is an entrovert with questionable social awkwardenesscombined with a handsome face supported by an ethereal jawline wich is a dream of overy cameraman.
If you are triggered by cultures that you do not understand maybe this is not a plot for you,or you can just seat for 10 episodes watching Sakaguchi Kentaro being absolutely breathtaking, hiding behind the Tokyo haircut. This is to say that, even though marriage tropes are not realistic in our world of the 99%.The writers justdecided to put two people of the opposite worlds under one roof, and it was comic to see the struggle.Watching on a platform with live comment section made it double awsome,it was like watching a football matchSome hated it,then loved it as episodes progressed, then hated it again and finally there was nothing to say only blame the referees who are the ever enduring japanese writers.
8.5/10 I will recomend, cos at least for once no one dies and Kentaro is enough to glue me at the screeneven though they made him the "slowest" brain frozen, probably virgin ML I have ever.Oh and be prepared to be diagnosed with 2MLS
chimica inesistente? Rispetto la tua opinione ma non si può parlare di chimica inesistente, perdonami. Persino…
I agree with you on the ending,I think the show would have found much grace if there was more romantic part of it, cos i know the actor could have delivered firworks,he had it in him,ANd the should have given the 2ML a romantic interest outside the FL,it was clear that he had no such connection with her,I have no idea why they tried to push that storline in the end
you can't blame if other was not able to show emotion. Her character was good but problem was actress having same…
To be honest i was the only one who didnt mind the break up/divorce thing. You could the ML knew already how he felt and he wanted to give the FL lead to also have the same feeling without the complexity of the contract..But I lost it when they missed eacother at the airport then, jumped to 7 months later, telling us the the ML was renoveting the apartment opposite for 3 months, i was like are you high on something son?
Am not a Manga reader so whenever I give any manga insprired drama,I have no expections to meet. And when it comes to japanese melodrama I go in looking for winter on a summer day, life lessons or tears.Either way I always get what am looking for..mostly tears, for Japanese writers are gifted at that.
I read reviews and many were positive with a "But" neverthless I saved this for my PWL and I did like it, somehow it kept me on edge because i had a weird feeling that something bad was going to happen, even though many had spoiled the end but who can trust Japanese writers?
Tomohisa Yamashita is a veteran actor and he never does wrong in my eyes and I was thinking he could play Steve Wonder so easly. Its the first time watching any Yuko Araki work but I think she did a stellar job.
Japanese cinematography and production are never up for discussion, they know what they are doing. The story was beautiful,I learnt permenant lifetime lessons on disability, love and the fact that giving up should never be an option. It makes you appreciate your eyes, ears and the ability to talk.
There was some plots holes which I wished were filled but I dont want to mention them to avoid spoiling it.But In a two hour movie, its not easy to close all the gaps.
chimica inesistente? Rispetto la tua opinione ma non si può parlare di chimica inesistente, perdonami. Persino…
MAybe we are psychologically wired to think that a ML should be the captain of the ship from the begining of the story.Somehow even when the boys went to SF, the 2ML felt like he was still in charge and had more screen time.Maybe i exepected too much from him but personally it felt like he had a college student mentality who knows he has something that can change the world but is timid to face the giants.I dont even mind the romantic stuff,he would have turned out to be a badass CEO but i remember this being a problem until they chose the FL.He did come in strong in the last 2 episodes but as usual in dramaland writers tend to serve the best wine last.Any way our opinions might differ but that the beauty of life
This is going to be short and short so here we go.
Everytime i get traumatized by a drama,I try to find somethingthat will cleanse my brain palate no matter how cute and childish it is.And this was the best candite.Nothing original here, same old highschool, childhood to adulthood.where the leads grow up together, its like a lighter version of Go Ahead
What I really liked was the ML.He had a commanding chemistry even though It was met by FL natural butterfly character that had a personality of a 12 yr But he kept it grounded and loved her as she was and protected and cared for her alot.
He gave us a surprise of very hot scenes,we didnt know we needed. For those who knew the actor from the k-pop idol group SEVENTEEN were shocked to see how he managed these scenes ,even though he is know to be of a quiet nature so I would really wish he can do more acting.
You could see how he helped the FL to be comfortable in her own skin. Because she was young and getting to experience the romantic side of life. In high school to college tropes its hard to remember the side stories and the technical stuff but I sure would rewatch the last two episodes on a cold night 😉
chimica inesistente? Rispetto la tua opinione ma non si può parlare di chimica inesistente, perdonami. Persino…
I dont know but there ws just something off with the way they made the 2ML such a strong and likeable character,to the point whereby before the real ML appeaared,if you hadnt read the synopsis or seen the cast list, you wouldnt know he was there. His character was developed in the very late stage of the show,i think last 2 episodes when he came back fro SF but i personally believe this would have hit 8.5 rating if they had made him stronger earlier..Cos this was actually a good show.
chimica inesistente? Rispetto la tua opinione ma non si può parlare di chimica inesistente, perdonami. Persino…
There is a difference between chemistry and romance..Maybe what I meant was romance, THe drama was about business start-up so expecting lots of romance or chemistry is unrealistic
