Thank you for this review. Although to some degree I am enjoying the drama, as an autistic female, this portrayal was really quite offensive.

excuse me, who are you? you're an idiot to assume "i've never met people with mental issues". i AM a person with mental issues. i can imagine having a mother like that, cos i DO. i AM a person with a past. you know absolutely nothing about strangers on the internet to say this to someone for simply disagreeing with your point of view. it's cute you're trying to educate me on matters i am experiencing firsthand just cos u have already decided i do not know none about life.

you're completely missing the point. yes, his past and his home situation are the reason why he is like that. yes, he is a damaged person. that's not an excuse: you do not get to hide behind your mental struggles for being an asshole.

also, i don't know why you're bringing up delusions, because he clearly was not deluded. he knew what reality was. he consciously!! spread rumours about soojeong in boksu's name, knowing that she would get hurt and feel betrayed by boksu. he knew that boksu got expelled for pushing him, when he knew this wasn't true. he made use of that situation and kept on the act of boksu pushing him.

even now, he challenged boksu and when soojeong misunderstood the situation, he was NOT under the delusion that boksu started a fight and assaulted him. he knew very, very well that that was not what happened and decided to do nothing because it would work in his favour regarding soojeong.

there's ways to explain why he turned out like this, but this doesn't excuse him being an asshole. it's not something one should hide behind. he needs to be called out on this behaviour and get professional help if anything. excusing it is not going to do ANYTHING.

the thing that doesn't make sense is that you're making this an excuse while painting soojeong off as the villain. yeah, she did stupid shit. there are ways to explain why she did those as well, even if they don't excuse it entirely. but the difference is that soojeong has realised what she's been doing wrong. she feels the guilt and she knows her flaws. she isn't continuing to be the person she was 9 years ago.

so why is soojeong the villain and not seho? with your explanation it doesn't make any sense. what soojeong has done isn't equal to what seho has done. what soojeong did affected boksu's life severely, and she made mistakes, but she wasn't lying any time. she only reported what she had heard and seen, and what she reported was true. that it wasn't the whole truth: she never claimed that, it was just made that way by the police and possibly others.

also, your last part doesn't correlate at all, because i never mentioned boksu being a villain. i actually never called any of them a villain cos this drama isn't that black and white. i'm just saying that you calling soojeong a villain doesn't make any sense. if you ask me, NONE of these three characters are angels. they've ALL done things wrong. but if anyone, seho would be the worst, since he keeps on doing it today. he did nothing to redeem himself. 9 years later, he continues to mess with boksu's life, knowingly, and continues to use situations to his advantage to taint boksu's name.

whatever the hell you think of their relationship progression, i don't care. that's not even relevant to your first comment lol, you literally said "in the end the villain gets it all".

besides, might i point out to you that even in real life: you like who you like. you can't force feelings upon anyone. i don't care that boksu's friends have been there with him all these years. he decides he still likes soojeong. so what's the problem? it's his business. his feelings. just because she's been there for him doesn't make her entitled to him being romantically interested in her. wtf.

what you're not right about is that she "should have been honest". she was honest. she clarified very openly that she HEARD what she heard, that she hadn't seen anything. that was enough for the police to make /their/ judgment.

let's not forget that everything happened on the same day. she got bullied and heard boksu spread those rumours about her. when she was about to go ask him about this, she heard him call her pitiful, though out of context. lastly she heard seho screaming for him to save him and by the time she opened the door, he was already falling beyond saving. boksu left. it's safe to say that the police would arrive very quickly, and in between that i very highly doubt that they would've "just" had the opportunity to discuss what she saw and heard.

now, all that aside: let's think about the emotional aspect as well. she just had been dragged for a vulnerable point, thought she got betrayed by someone she liked and trusted, saw something that would shock many people to the core all to the same day. she was also young. this shit causes PTSD for people, by the way. you think she really thought it all true beforehand when the police questioned her? that she sat around thinking rationally about what she was supposed to do? of course not. the police questioned her and she answered truthfully, even being in shock. once she got out of the initial shock she realised what she had done.

then she should have asked him, yes. i can understand feeling the guilt gnaw at you so bad you back out, but i think along those 9 years she could have at least asked him once. she did not. in that sense she fucked up. however, no matter what she asked him, his fate was already sealed on the day it happened. there was nothing she could do to revert the situation. i think this is a common misconception in these comments. regardless, i still believe she should've asked him as well, even if it's just for the sake of their bond; but that really wouldn't have changed a single thing besides their relationship. but she did NOT lie, she WAS honest.

ya, ur right. his home situation is shit. his mother isn’t worthy of even being one. ya they’re all reasons of why he turned out this way and part of the problem. he clearly has severe psychological issues and is emotionally neglected.

it’s an explanation, it doesn’t fucking excuse it. not everything is directly to blame on his mother. boksu wasn’t only framed by his mother; are we forgetting that seho deliberately let go, that every time he had a chance to clear his name and yet always consciously chose to make use of the situation? that he used information to his advantage to smear boksu’s name? this all goes beyond needing a little love and being excusable. these are conscious actions that have consequences.

and yet you’re painting soojeong as the villain??? sure, she’s a flawed as well. she isn’t manipulating anyone however. she isn’t ruining someone’s life with the intention to. her mistakes, which like you said is being close minded and not open for discussion with boksu when she should have been, how are they worse than manipulating the people around you?

how is making someone let go of you knowing that they’re trying to save you and screaming for them to save you as though they’re pushing you less of an issue than testifying what you HEARD without asking them about it? both of these are shit actions to do to a friend but the difference here is that one was based on a lie and the other genuinely heard this and was not lying, at least not deliberately.

i seriously cannot excuse seho no matter how much i love dongyeon and how much i sympathise with his background. either they’re both villains or they’re just both flawed, damaged people. pick a struggle jesus christ. man i would hate to meet people like y’all on this section in real life ????‍♀️

Wait, how does that make sense? If you're a fan of YSH and don't know JBA, but hate her character, then how does this say you're anything but biased? I mean, as a fan of YSH, doesn't this mean instead that you'd already have a preference for him?? This confuses me.

Actually I'd say it's pretty common for abused, damaged children to block out memories, or have false memories. I've experienced this myself. Sometimes your memories aren't accurate, yet they still get part of it right. It's kind of like a built-in defense mechanism. The memories become too much and you don't know what to do with them so your brain starts to alter them to cope.

That being said I think her sister is a pretty strong runner.

Not just this; it's also ridiculous to judge her entire character already after four episodes when we barely know what happened yet.

All we know is they had a thing going on, she thought she saw him push Se Ho, and that she contributed to him getting kicked out like that. We don't know anything prior to that. We don't know his or her relationship with Se Ho, what happened between them, what was going on that day entirely. We've seen fragments.

Fragments are not enough to judge a book by it's cover. Things barely make sense at this point in the drama. Before judging her character shouldn't we at least know what went down? Whatever it is, I don't think it's as simple as we think right now, cos that would take away more than half of the suspense/mystery of the past.

You can also turn it around. We can easily be biased as what we know about Boksoo through what we've seen is that he's a nice guy who got framed. In our eyes it's easily that he's never done anything wrong. That doesn't mean that this should be the whole case. He may not have pushed him but that doesn't already decide for the rest of the series that none of what happened was /his fault/. Why she would believe he did that, or what his problems with Se Ho were. How are we supposed to know? LOL

I don't understand this mentality of dropping drama's after one episode. Many shows start off slow, disappointing or cringy. That doesn't mean that the rest of the series will be the same. They had to get into the story, after the first episode it progressed a lot more adult lol. How can you judge a series by it's first episode only? Doesn't make sense.... When you read a book and don't like the first page, do you stop reading immediately too? lmao
