I saw a lot of misinformation around so here I am, hopefully to help :)
Mew's partner in LILAC is not Geonu, despite both being listed as 'main roles' Mew's partner is JM (Chu Jimin!)
They were both in the survival show I-LAND, and later on they debuted together in the kpop group JUSTB ( I highly reccomend you to check them out, they are amazing <3)
As for the age gap question, I don't see where the issue is. The world is FULL of actors with even wider age gaps (in any kind of dramas, not only bl related) and there are a lot of couples we grew to love that actually share a similar one (Seoham and Jaechan from Semantic Error, Zee and Nunew, Jeff and Barcode and so on) so I really don't see any kind of problem.
The problem itself comes from people who are still attached to Mew's previous partner/couple and refuse to see him act with someone else, still this doesn't give them the reason to hate on them.
Mew is a wonderful person and their bond out of set is the sweetest, it's JM's first acting project and I am super glad he could work with a sweet human being like Mew, I know he took care of him really well and they worked hard for this project to happen, especially given the language and cultural difference.
So please support LILAC and the cast as much as you can and spread a lot of positive vibes! <3
