loving this drama, didn't expect it to be so good! all 4 eps were amazing and fight sequences are so clean and new everytime. Was so shocked when Yungi fought, thought he was just there to simp over EuiGyeom but HE WAS GOOD!!.
I won't say it was the perfect drama but it was definitely worth the watch. I hope we do get S2 but if we don't that's okay too. Last ep was definitely my fav one. The cast and the acting was good and memorable. Will miss Hu Yitian and Leon Zhang again as a duo. Will we get them together again?

If to compare with Mriad, Mriad is much better even with it's loopholes. The cases in checkmate are few and longer, but sometimes feel draggy. They did work better on slight romance part than mriad but somehow it feels like bromance has been toned down but its still there and Situ has became such a serious person, miss the playful side of mriad's situ
I have a feeling that Jin Qi Ming , the reporter will turn out to be Mr. X in final eps, the actual mastermind behind all cases. He is the only one "next to Situ" along with shaochuan since first case
I kind of feel bad for ShaoChuan's character, i don't know how they wrote the script for his character but they just keep showing him as an incapable police officer who can't solve the case alone or even connect the facts and it hurts to see when he becomes so insecure about himself and his position. Its not just in one case.
I am loving seeing Yunlong and Yitian again, it somehow feels the souls of their characters have been swapped from mriad to this but however checkmate is its own standalone drama and i'm loving the duo and its bromance again. (but seriously situ yan is so serious in this and luo is creating just good chaos that i'm loving so much)
The wait for the drama was so worth it. Loving the production abd the acting. The visible attraction and tension between Wang and In is amazing to watch; waiting for more eps

They both are damn good actors the show will be worth it
