Which is so weird because the other actors are pretty okay, and some looks even great including the emperor and his sister.
I think the issue is that the make-up team over-whitened the ML face, in his first scene you can clearly see the distinction between the color of his face and neck/body. And since they are lighting it up, the effect is just heightened.
As the drama doesnt seem to do much of skin smoothing if at all, his skin tone that could have looked maybe more even, was not touched upon, so we ultimately get this quite unatural look.
The worst, in my opinion, is that it hinders his facial expression, especially when he cries.
Somehow loving the cinematography, especially the Emperor'scenes, but were the make up artists, lighting team and postprod drunk for their faces to come out like that?!
I have loved this drama so far BUT I have a hard-time believing in the new mad king persona.
Although its completely understandable that the ultimate betrayal of his brother (admitting he never loved him and used him) and his brother ultimate brutal demise are extremely traumatic events, they still do not explain the complete 24h character transplant he went through.
Its just seemed like his entire characterization up to this point died when his brother did.
Sooooooooooo this drama is called "Captivating the King",but after 4 episodes, the FL feels like a side-character, and it's been nothing but palace politics, I propose we rename this drama "Ascending the throne" instead 😂😂😂
Chloe gives me hives.She is his superior, the power imbalance is huge She had been pushing him to the point he feels he can not say no. It's a completely abhorent behavior.
Everything seems wholesome from costume to casting, director and story, but the screenwriter just scares the shxx out of me >< I'm afraid she is just going to dunk the whole drama.
Never thought I would love a Yang Zi character as much as I loved XiaoYao in Lost You Forever, but I cant stop loving more and more Ying Zi as episodes pass! I just absolutely adore here!
Episode 9 was so perfect and so heart-warming 😭Needed it after crying like a baby in episode 8!
It was also great to finally see interaction between HY and MY, I dont know if they will become canon, but it would be good if they could find their way back as friends again <3

What an achievement for a drama no one believed in except YangZi and no one bet on to be a hit.
