Dad contacts SD first instead, given the situation SD is in, he complies. SD "stages" the whole misunderstanding intentionally (he know how SY reacts to things, we have seen that on their infirmary date as well!) SY did try to contact him for clarification, but SD might've misled him. From S2 trailer, it doesn't look like that was the first time SD and SY's dad we're talking to each other. SD's "I am going to let SY confront me this time" in S2 trailer sounds different now.
