I'm trying to be sympathetic towards everyone but it's like I'm jumping through hoops to excuse behaviour that feels childish and unnecessary to me. How are these characters 30 years old but communicating with each other like 19 year olds?
Aside: I think it's funny how ZDK resents NYZ for making her feel like a charity case/second character but is lowkey treating BJD the same way NYZ treated her. Only difference is BJD isn't projecting a narrative onto ZDK due to an inferiority complex like she did to NYZ. He's taking ZDK's actions at face value - the well meaning efforts of ZDK to help him feel more settled in an unfamiliar environment.
Listen. I couldn't believe it when they wanted us to go along with the characters being the same age. Now as soon as I get used to the idea, they went and pulled the wool over my eyes. I always found Jun's preference for shorts a bit weird considering that he's literally the only person who wears them but it all makes sense now because they were hinting at him being younger.
My guess would actually be that Jun finished high school in the previous year then ran away just as he was meant to start med school. Since his family seems well connected, they could easily organise a last minute leave of absence while they search for him. This would also be why the police were fairly apathetic when his mum was worrying about his whereabouts (Jun is no longer a minor so he doesn't qualify as vulnerable).
The casting of Jung Hae In had me suspecting but with Kim Hye Yoon's casting I'm going to go ahead and call it. This is going to be much more of an ensemble drama than the synopsis is letting on. To be specific; Jisoo and Jung Hae In's characters will probably not play as much of a central role in this drama as is being described.
This team did the exact same thing with Sky Castle. Everyone went into it thinking Lee Tae Ran would be the most prominent female lead but it ended up being the Kim Seo Hyung show with Yeom Jung Ah as a close second and the antics/mannerisms of both Oh Na Ra & Yoon Se Ah rounding it out.
This rating is definitely a low ball score submitted with ill intentions. As cliched as the plot seems, it hasn't been done badly at all. Since I can more or less see where his story is headed, the burden is now going to fall on the main leads' chemistry to sell this show. I hope it does well.
