Title The Eternal Love Spoiler
I watched this series because it was recommended to me and I fell in love. I binged it in 3 days because I couldn’t…
Sure. I watched it recently so it still fresh. Spoilers ahead for anyone avoiding them. For the first 20 episodes the story takes place with a cast in one location that is fantasy, but still grounded and more historical. There is time travel and magic. But it is more of a background element with the focus being more on the love story/square and the political plot between two brothers and two women sharing the same body, while each loving one of the brothers. It was so unique in my opinion and I loved the dynamic between all the characters.

Then the "original Tan Er" gets randomly killed by her love interest/the older brother. Then the older brother almost immediately after gets killed. Rushing the end of the love square. The political plot gets abandoned. The two leads then have a child and is very "final episode' like.

But the main male lead was supposed to "die" when he turned 25...except he doesn't and the two leads get teleported into another "more magical/fantasy" world where they find out they are the incarnations of these two enemies-turned-to-lovers-back to enemies and the female lead had killed the male lead because they belonged to enemy clans. So this other character put his soul in a human baby and then she died and she was reborn as a human but in the future.

And then the last 4 episodes they have to defeat this magical guy who sort of appeared a little bit in the first 20 episodes and the male lead loses his memories...but then regains them immediately after...and he I also dying, again, but gets healed immediately also so that tension was for nothing...and then they kill the bad guy.

Maybe as it's own show that last plot would have been interesting. But 4 episodes they just rush a bunch of this stuff (for example male lead not remembering her is interesting...but it gets resolved within like 30 minutes so it just comes across as a pointless filler arc on an already rushed story) and it just feels like a completely different story/season not the ending of the story/characters we have gotten to know for 20 episodes. 90% of the cast is pretty much gone for those final episodes, the child they had is pretty much forgotten . It's just a mess.

I watched this series because it was recommended to me and I fell in love. I binged it in 3 days because I couldn’t wait to see what happened...but that ending was definitely a bit disappointing and rushed.

The love square which was for once interestingly done was fixed too sudden and it felt like a cop out. And to rush into a new location/characters in the last 4 episodes felt like an entirely new show. Even the conflicts introduced in that arc felt rushed to me.

I will look into the new season because I do like the characters. But I wish that ending had been handled better.
