After having watched up to episode 16 I can definitely say this show gets better the more it progresses. The first 5-6 episodes were just so poorly executed in terms of editing and writing, it's like they had so many ideas but decided to try and cram it into only a few episodes hence there being very poor character development in the beginning and the story being very hard to follow. The romance for instance is quite hard to believe for the first few episodes since it happens so suddenly and we don't really get any lead up to it.

BUT, thankfully the drama starts to find its footing around episode 7 and it starts to flesh out its characters more and make their relationships more believable; the romance especially. The writing also gets exceedingly better by subverting so many tropes I've seen before in C-dramas which genuinely impressed me. The characters themselves are quite intelligent, females included which is very refreshing, which helps to avoid meaningless misunderstandings. And the fight sequences are well choreographed and can be pretty creative at times. As it stands I'm also not sure where we are going in terms of the plot since so much has already happened over the span of 16 episodes which has me anticipating future episodes; I hope now that we've established quite a few different plots and relationships that we can really delve into the potential later on.

Overall, the first handful of episodes are very hard to watch and I wouldn't blame people for dropping it. But, I'd say that for me it was worthwhile sticking around because I'm genuinely starting to enjoy the drama now and have high hopes for where it's heading.

So I've watched up to episode 10 and I have to say I'm really enjoying the drama so far! Yes, it's far from perfect…
Update: Just finished watching episode 14 and WOW! Totally saw the plot twist coming but they way they executed it was great nonetheless. This drama has really picked up within the last few episodes and I'm so excited for the direction we're going in now.

So I've watched up to episode 10 and I have to say I'm really enjoying the drama so far! Yes, it's far from perfect and there's a few things I would prefer to be done differently (editing, acting etc.) but I can't deny this drama has a certain charm. The story so far has been bit slow but they're giving us enough questions to keep me intrigued. And I'm loving the development of our main squad, their chemistry together improves with each episode. And even the FL is starting to grow on me the more we delve into the story. You do have to bear in mind that this is her first project so her acting is stiff at times. Arthur Chen however is just fantastic in this role, it's a bit similar to his role in Ever Night. He has such charisma, sass and charm that you can't help but invest in his character. He's definitely carrying the show for me but the side characters are great too. If you're unsure as to whether to watch this show because of the comments, I'd say go for it! Every show deserves a chance and this show may not be perfect but it's most certainly enjoyable.

This show continues to be such a blast! 'The Shining' reenactment in episode 6 really showcased YSY acting ability, the whole knife scene was so unnerving and yet such a thrill to watch. I really hope the show keeps this up because it's currently the highlight of my week.

Update: After watching up to the 14 episodes available this series has definitely grown on me. Don't get me wrong,…
At this current moment in time, I believe it's only available to the Iqiyi app. You can watch it for free but if you have a VIP account you can watch an extra 8 episodes ahead.

I decided to binge 7 episodes to try and get a good feel for the show and honestly it's not that bad. The humor…
Update:
After watching up to the 14 episodes available this series has definitely grown on me. Don't get me wrong, it's still nothing spectacular or ground breaking but this show most certainly has its charm. The tonal shifts aren't as abrupt the more the series progresses and some of the 4th wall breaking is even funny. I also quite like the dynamic between our 2 mains now. Though the FL is still annoying at times, I do enjoy the teasing relationship they share. The 'side quests' also don't linger for too long so the story keeps moving at a nice pace.
Again, this series isn't the greatest Wuxia drama I've seen and it definitely won't be to everyone's taste. But I do think it's worth watching at least the first 10 episodes before a judgement is made.
I decided to binge 7 episodes to try and get a good feel for the show and honestly it's not that bad. The humor is incredibly hit and miss, the FL is very over the top and some of the editing could definitely be improved on. But, Xu Kai is quite charming in this role and after reading some of the manga the show is certainly trying to channel the same vibe. It's definitely not a show to take seriously but it's worth a watch for certain elements or if you want to switch your mind off for a while.
