Scripts get altered all the time; even post-production if not testing well.

As far as LZ. I've read your other comments. I just don't think LZ grievances are weighted as heavily as AL. And it just seems strange because the backdrop is a zombie apocalypse. LZ altruism is the Zombie Apocalypse version of toxic positivity with life or death consequences.

What do you mean you:
- got bit
- didn't tell anybody in your group you got bit
- don't know what getting bit and not turning means and were just around the group
- stole supplies that the GROUP gathered
- used supplies to heal the person we said we'd leave
- snuck out and put yourself at risk
- trusted the strange military stranger outside the group
- got drugged by the military stranger with food
- trusted another injured stranger despite the last one
- ate food despite warnings in cannibal camp; and you just got drugged
- fell for kidnapper and eventually went along with kidnapper
- went along with doctor even after he put you in a circumstance where the military was around you
- didn't leave your kidnapper then slept with your kidnapper
- didn't shoot the 200+ lbs friend zombie coming at you
- no longer trust the military guy/kidnapper cause he made the hard decision to kill friend
- got mad at military guy for questioning whether other friend was bitten when YOU hid your bite from people before
- didn't heed warnings about being careful about doctor
- trusted doctor with his own life and his brothers despite incident at mall
- didn't ask that many questions about experiments (I'm sorry but my experience is that people become more cautious and interested in the information when relatives are on the brink of life or death not less; especially after being abandoned).
- didn't care about the doctor almost killing him (cause you can know you saved your brother when your dead).

AL and LZ both have their toxic traits. But both of them are the reason each other are living. AL wouldn't have lived if LZ wasn't so sympathetic. LZ would not be alive without AL cold military execution and distrust and questioning a situation. So I give both characters a bit of grace.

As far as the brother argument, the head explosion is exactly the reason most people would be more cautious with their loved ones involved and their history.

I don't know if people are over exaggerating, but this is a pretty decent show so far. Obviously not the best,…
Let’s be honest here. People aren’t dumb. People know there is plot. The commentary is the lack of substantive plot, context, and sub context that a lot of BLs choose to have summarized in a comment “where’s the plot?” It’s simple plot. And I see most people saying they will enjoy it for what it is but note the lack of deeper plot.

I dunno about others but I feel like avid BL watchers got SPOILED ROTTEN this year (it was awesome). We got plot, subplot, context, new genre mixtures, chemistry up the wazoo in 2026. So this drama is striking compared to those in the same year. They also only got 5, 20 min episodes. Hard to fit plot and let chemistry build in that.

I also think in the BL world we acknowledge that for people who don’t understand it, they see it as a chance for people to watch hot guys make out. Complex plot and characters like in action movies, romance movies, or literature are an easy counter argument to that. This feels like a step away from that.

BUT…Can’t we BL lovers like other genre lovers enjoy simple plot and chemistry? I will probably watch all episodes and enjoy it but will admit the simple plot was a surprise.

Yeah. That’s fair.

I’m cautious about saying the writing because final choices generally (not 100%) go to the director, re-writes for a specific direction, parts of scripts get cut, even filmed pieces get cut. But even producers can sometimes have an impact on that process so…

I reframe to I’m disappointed in the final outcome sometimes but optimistic about the genre as a whole.

Cinemax had more plot. I don’t know whether to feel embarrassed or insulted. This felt like the equivalent of saying guys watch action movies because of explosions then just having shootouts and explosions the whole movie.

Right? There is no way he wasn’t an asshole before apocalypse. That level is practiced.
The pain of the Doctor isn’t just that he’s evil but he’s forced. Since his appearance, you get just enough context to justify certain actions. It didn’t feel that way with A Lie and Lin Zai until the doctor shows up. Rather than plot armor he’s the plot enforcer; plotlines (to me at least) feel forced in a certain direction because of him.

I don’t know that the doctors character arc was well thought out for screen consumption. He’s a master manipulator and insists on things his way but his brother does not know this? Or he does, battles this his whole life, but is willing to sleep with his brother once he confesses he likes him more than a brother.

There is no way his brother was not bullied out of his insistence to have things his way. It’s his character and his brother even implies it in one of his arguments. Like even his brothers character does matrix bending for plot.

I feel like a broken record recently, but I'm gonna say it again here: there aren't enough episodes left to properly…
Nah. Some of it is execution. Some plot lines can be condensed and sometimes where they could have had story they had plot filler or long monologues.

Prosecutor’s Proposal immediately stood out to me when thinking about your comment. That scene in the parking lot with the reveal was WAY too long. As I was watching it I was thinking, who does this lady know that she is getting this much screen time. They looped through that conversation 3 times before revealing who the Prosecutor was. There’s building tension and there’s what they did.

I am sad by this trend but seeing some potential in the BL market. More investment not only in traditional storylines but also stories like NOUR and The Last Oath. I also see newer and younger directors doing these BLs as well, which I think accounts for the execution sometimes. But these newer and younger directors also may be the reason that even within the BL market the stories are diverse. I appreciate BL progressing so fast and just hope it does not stagnate.

I'm thinking about it too, I hope they will not ruin it by rushing the story at the end.
Right. And no to a season two. No 20+ episodes of the necrophiliac doctor for me. Lin Zai has been through enough.

Just saw 22. Are they really supposed to wrap this up in 2 more episodes? Like they just started another plot line.

Ok, He Yao is slowly but steadily ranking up in the list of "worst villain ever" in a BL and he is really…
Best way to engage the audience is a 3 episode slow but satisfying torture fest of the Doctor. May his ending be from the mind of King Joffrey. ^.^

The library scene was absolutely moving and probably made the entire series worth watching,
Omg. Nothing like the characters describing their emotions and your feeling the exact same emotions with them. That was so well done
