Gou Ya has already turned feral bcos he consumed a human (the teacher in ep1) that was not related to his first human. Turning feral also makes him give off a scent that can be tracked by the dog clan members in the South Mountain Hunters group. That’s why Auntie Lin has to kill him in order not to jeopardize the safety of the other earth fiends.
