I was actually wondering how the manga did that (mostly because I was initially worried they were gonna do it…
If I was right (the manga isn't translated so I underwent the painstaking process of Google Translating each panel to read it haha) they did "it" at the time Takimasa said that they'll "see the wedding night to the very end." Although it seemed to be a positive experience for Natsumi at the manga, I can see that a more realistic approach is to wait a little longer.
The drama seemed to have toned down most of their interactions actually, and maybe it was for the best to make their relationship's transition as smooth as possible. If I remember correctly, in the manga their first kiss was actually slightly torrid which is why Natsumi passed out due to lack of oxygen (cause she couldn't breathe). In the show it was just a long awkward peck, which seems to be better since Takimasa was supposed to be inexperienced as well.
Oh, they already did it in the manga? I think it’s actually a good decision to change things up a bit, because…
Which I think was common at that specific time period, because sex ed for women weren't as common as it is now. Which is unfortunate, since women at that time would oftentimes spend their wedding night being unaware of what exactly happens :( glad that Takimasa chose to delay it, especially when he realized that Natsumi was very unaware of how it works.
Watched him in numerous projects but only became a real fan after Meoto Biyori. He’s really good and promises good range! I hope he’s given more lead projects with good characters because he’s more than capable.
Read bits of the manga and found out that the show is loyal to it with very few modifications, with the major one being that they cut the s*x scenes. (Takimasa and Natsumi did the “first night” at the second time they attempted it I think 😂)
And for some reason, I agree with the show’s decision to go that direction? Don’t get me wrong, the manga is GOOD, but it just seemed much more natural for them to wait more and get to know each other more before they do it. (Even though consummating an arranged marriage despite not knowing each other well is a common thing back in the day).
The only place where I find raws are in dailymotion, but there are ads every freaking five minutes of the whole 46 min episode 😭 if there’s anyone who knows better websites, I would love to know them too.
Tonight’s ep was so heartwarming yet heartbreaking at the same time 😭 Natsumi finally developing the fear of watching Takimasa leave, knowing it may be for a battle. And just them thinking about having kids someday 😭
I LOVE THIS DRAMA!! The chemistry between the leads alongside their adorable awkwardness just makes me want more of them.
Even checked the manga out, only to find that [spoiler] they are heading towards the start of WWII. Hope the leads just get their happily ever after because I’m too attached to them to see them get unalived 😭
the ones from mega (c/o kayatoastsubs) always says I exceeded the "transfer quota" and I was only able to watch it until ep 6 T.T could you help me with this issue?

And to add to your comment. I think we should appreciate Akira's mom. I think she really understands Akira's feelings.…
I actually have the same thoughts! Akira’s mom is treated by other fans like she’s evil but the show never really fell short on showing that Akira’s mom is filled with nothing but love and care for her son. And I also agree with your point about character development being the main point of the drama. Most student-teacher relationship dramas in japan treat “18” like the magical age for maturity just because it’s the legal age (which is ew), but the show definitely showed that 18 year olds can still be insecure and immature. My fave scene is actually the breakup scene! It really showed how Hijiri and Akira have learned and matured from their experiences, finally recognizing their need for grow apart.
