I knew that Natty had a miscarriage or botched abortion and when they said Jane had sepsis, I knew she had an abortion, but what I didn't expect was that nurse Fan was the abortionist. I thought that it might be the junior doctor. The smile the nurse gave Jane when she was brought in for sepsis was chilling. Poor Nam. I'm enjoying this series because of the twists even though there are major plot holes. (ex: If Bun is the attending, who discharged Nam? Why are their gloves clean during the autopsies? Where are Nam's parents?)
This series doesn't tackle same-sex relationship issues much. They have discussed about men dating men issues…
I know that you are not complaining, but it's a good discussions starter. I don't feel that every show with LGBTQ+ characters needs to be political, just like not everything with women needs to be political. Part of being treated equally is that populations don't have to follow a narrative. The fact that Kurosawa loved Adachi for 7 years without trying to get to know him better speaks more loudly than making speeches. Japan is a high context culture, so there is an expectation that Japanese viewers (the target audience) will catch on to things not explicitly said. That's why Fujisaki who knows both and is sensitive, caught on. The men in the office probably think that it's "impossible" for Adachi and Kurosawa to be in a relationship, so it doesn't even cross their minds. I think this is representation of the everyday person who finds love at work. BTW, neither identified their sexual orientation, which I think is pretty bold, knowing how much some viewers love labels.
Agreed. Best of all of the BL that I watched this year. Now I wish that Seven Days had been done as a series instead…
The manga is wonderful and one of my favorites. It's 2 volumes (Mon-Thurs & Fri-Sun) and the premise is that one of the characters (Seryou) will date somebody for 7 days and if he doesn't fall for them, he will break up with them. On a whim, a male senpai (Yuzuru) asks him to go out, thinking that it's a joke, but they start their week of dating. I would recommend the movies. Watch Mon-Thurs first.
I don't understand the references to Exile. Is it a band or a management agency? TIA and too lazy to research.
Thanks for your response. You seem very educated about the entertainment industry in Japan. By going solo I mean being a solo artist and having an agent who is not connected to the JPOP group. But if other members were allowed to kiss men, then that wouldn't be a factor. I think the series is fine as is, and in my opinion, the best overall BL of 2020.

Thanks for the answer. That could be a reason for no gay pda. Those management companies have a lot of control. Machida has the talent to go solo, but I don't know entertainment politics in Japan. I was confused because there is a 70's band in the US named Exile.
Okay, I'm a gay male, US citizen.For me, I didn't miss seeing a kiss between Adachi/Kurosawa... because I live…
You made really good points. I just wanted to point out that some people redress after sex, especially when it's cold. Also, some people do not feel comfortable sleeping naked. In some BL manga, people have sexual intercourse fully clothed or with their pants on. Since the English version is only on Vol 2, I don't know if this mangaka draws her characters like that.
I would have liked a peck too, but Kurosawa's "Merry Christmas" was so cute that I forgave them.
I think that's the risk in using more established actors in these roles rather than LGBT actors or newcomers.…
I think it's because Will Smith earned $$$$ for the studios, so they gave in. TBH, with the BL fandom (look at how angry some of them are getting over the lack of a kiss), if I were a manager, I would be concerned. The constant demands for fan service, the countless videos proving they are a real couple, harassment of actors for having a girlfriend, etc. If I were a manager, I would be looking at that aspect as well. I wish the characters had a peck on the lips, but I can also understand views of management. If this were gay cinema, I think it may have been different.
Idk, the ending kinda left an unsettling feeling in my heart. There was this bit 2% left unsatisfied. I think…
I think that's the risk in using more established actors in these roles rather than LGBT actors or newcomers. One or both of them may not want to take the risk, or their managers do not want them to take the risk. Will Smith had a kissing double for Six Degrees of Separation and he said that was one of his biggest regrets as an actor.
I actually thought the morning after scene was pretty intimate, but I hate the two Ken dolls kissing more than almost anything, except for smoking.
To me, this was the best series of 2020 and showed real intimacy.
Japanese intimacy is different from Western intimacy. They are in love with each other, but still using last names. Minato still says, "Tsuge-san." Adachi & Kurosawa showed up at the special place for their first date, when it would have been more logical for Adachi to go to Kurosawa's place to look for him. Kurosawa bought matching pens because he knew that Adachi would be shy. That's what an intimate relationship entails, being empathic toward your partner's feelings. Adachi said that he is no longer a wizard so the viewers know what happened. The cute way Kurosawa said, "Merry Christmas" was better that a kiss. I prefer the elevator scene, over the usual two Ken dolls kissing that Japanese BL live dramas show. I'm disappointed that viewers would be criticizing the scriptwriter. I really loved this series.
Remember that this is initially a small late-night drama that is only broadcast around Tokyo areas (TV Tokyo is…
Thank you for your response. I didn't realize that it was on so late and only in Tokyo because the show blew up so fast internationally. I'm glad that the Japanese audience found a way to watch it. I'm hoping for a second season or movie too.
I know this sounds stupid, but I don't know how to research this. Is Cherry Maho as popular in Japan as it is internationally? I hope so because this is a great series. Hopefully the cast and crew are rewarded for their hard work.
