I'm guessing the cut version of Ep 4 is very short. Anyway, I like this - it's quite different than the usual…
I agree with the porn plot. I think that I have a soft spot for Rich because even though he used a woman as a beard, he stuck to his commitment to her, and now has the opportunity to explore his true self, and find love with a man. Then in walks the hot "step-son" and of course, we need strong sexual attraction, because Tupe is the only gay male on the island. Tupe needs to iron Rich's robe instead of getting it on with his son. I will be disappointed if Tupe sleeps with Greg.

LOL, most of the people hating on the series now that it is too basic... I'll be watching nevertheles 😋...…
Yes, MDL judges BL at a higher standard than hetero dramas and they did hate SCOY for being so cringe. Thanks for the reminder.

After watching Hotel Stars, I almost skipped this and glad that I didn't. I really like Boss and hope to see him again in other series. Sometimes I get distracted by how he looks similar to Singto, but I enjoyed how he plays a jerk and a sweetheart equally well.
On Papa, What Is Love? May 28, 2022
After ignoring this on my YouTube recommends because I can't stand the daddy FETISH (being specific), I'm glad that I decided to watch. I'm hoping that Tupe doesn't fall for Greggy because I really like that Rich stood by his decision to use a woman as a beard, but now that she has passed, has decided to live authentically.

I have known real people (het and gay) who have had successful age-gap relationships, so it's a nice change to see an this couple.

My main complaint is, they should have laundered and pressed the pink robe. I can still see the fold lines. I don't know if it's Rich's robe or his deceased wife's, but it bothers me when he wears it.

Yet during the accidental slip and fall kiss, salsa music started blaring instead of the usual boing sound. I thought it was quite funny.

Okay, I'm the outlier who liked this show. I liked that the cool, handsome guy, Khabkluen, missed opportunities, has insecurities, and made mistakes along the way. He didn't even win the campus prince contest. I also thought that Daonuea was the stronger of the two, even though on the surface, he seems less secure. At least he was able to take the risk and express himself, unlike Khabkluen who could have approached Daunuea when he found out that he was doing his assignments.

I am looking forward to the Fah/Prince portion of the series.

I hope that my boo TEXAS CHICKEN is back for Part 2.

LOL. I know that Meow is an adult, but I don't understand his backstory. Maybe all of the beatings he has taken from all those kids caused him TBI? I think the cat who portrays him is cute and deserves a cast credit though.

I see your point about Meow. I didn't realize Meow couldn't use the phone. Manni is being portrayed as a terrible employee who can never do anything right, and is on the verge of failing probation for a job that looks pretty easy. She has been fired from her other jobs as well. I'm not sure why Faiyen is not portrayed that way. The webtoon is only in Chinese and Japanese, so I don't understand the backstory.

Meow is an adult or he would be in school. Also, Manni is also portrayed the same way, so shouldn't we be bothered about that too? The student-teacher relationship depends on the uni. I think it's unethical, but they are not in romantic or sexual relationship as of Episode 7, so we would need to know that standards of conduct to see if they are violating any rules. I understand being bothered, but I think it's clear that Meow and Manni are not children.

I don't usually write series reviews but I feel like I need to write one for this. After watching all 12 episodes,…
You're review is very good. I know some people didn't like the LGBT representation, but I think that the LGBT support was mostly done with a culturally appropriate way throughout the series. The two families wanted to allowed their only children to become engaged knowing that they could not have children together. The Grandpas were obviously a couple, and this was shown early in the series. None of the family members had problems with the Grandpas or Kuea or Lian being couples. Kuea and Lian did not hide their status from anyone. The only "western" style LGBT representation was the billboard.

I didn't like the secrets either, but that was the drama part and I forgive the show, especially because they decided to no longer keep secrets. Thanks for your thoughtful review.

I think this series could have been done in 12 episodes. I didn't even watch episode 15 and fast forwarded through most of episodes 12-14 and I don't feel like I missed anything. I'm really shocked, but I just didn't connect with the TG/SW couple. I loved TG as the protagonist because of his unique views and his courage, but I felt the balcony scene with Daon had more sizzle than the kissing scenes with Shin Woo. I don't mind being in the minority with this one, it's just my opinion. That fact that I fast forwarded through most of TG/SW's "courtship" confirmed my opinion to myself.

What is this a parody of? I can't figure it out. I know some of the costumes are supposed to be clues, but I don't know the shows. I agree with you about the accidental kiss, or a slow motion kiss that takes so long that they could take a final exam, prepare lunch or go bowling before their lips meet.

I always feel happier after watching an episode. The loneliness that Dermdem must have felt at the orphanage was conveyed well by Gap, and Meow was there to cheer him up.

Spoiler tag!Agreed! It's the last episode and they can't even have a high stakes basketball game look exciting?
I didn't even care who won, the game was so boring. I wasn't even sad their team lost. Also, thanks for the reminder. I put the spoilers under the tag.

We don't even know if Mon and So made it because the pier scene was ambiguous. Sweet, caring Pond turns into a f#ckboi and we don't even see if Mickey and Q turned out okay.

Loved episodes 1-11, but episode 12 dragged the whole series down. I like that the normal looking guy was the love interest over the handsome, charismatic guy. Mon should give Saint a try in the two years if he and So fizzle out.

I see your point. Caste Heaven (you're right! I stopped reading it because it was too twisted for me) is currently being published in English. I've never been to Indonesia (I watch a YT channel where a man goes solo camping and your country is beautiful), so I don't know about the kids there. I don't read Japanese, but I've read scanlations and official translations. My listening comprehension is better, so I have watched the OVA and listened to BLCDs in Japanese.

I think that it's wise to protect the kids and I see your point. I think kids in my country do bad things, but I don't think they are as influenced by TV, but more by their peers. Thanks for letting me know what is going on in your country. It's good they have you advocating for them.

I was thinking about this because I watched a podcast, and millennials (people who were kids when Friends came out) on the panel were talking about what a great show Friends was, and how i still holds up today. I don't agree with them, however I didn't care for Friends ( have watched more than 1 episode, but not more than 5), much back in the day. I felt that it was very trope laden and talk about the Rachel/Ross relationship! Yet people still love it in 2022. How these people afforded great NYC apartments on their salaries and how white the cast is, was the joke even back then, yet people still love it. I was required to read Romeo and Juliet as a 14 year old Freshman, back when suicide wasn't even talked about with kids. I guess that to some people, what's old is new again - maybe?

You make reasonable points, but I have to disagree with some of them. I also have been reading BL manga for a while, and agree that rape was a common trope back then, as was having a partner die at the end. Love Mode was a classic back then, but in 2022, it would have many issues. Back then, only certain people read BL, which is why we had forums and other places to discuss it. Now that it's gone sort of mainstream, we have lost many of our spaces to talk about controversial topics and keep it cordial. Yet, "toxic" BL manga is still published. I don't care for twisted manga like Jealousy or Castehate, but others enjoy it.

What I don't like is, that others feel they have the right to judge you if you like a series like Cutie PIe. We've been using the same straight tropes since 1969, but nobody talks about how outdated they are. We even use tropes from the 1500's, created by Shakespeare. If this were 2001, I would agree with you about teens, but I see elementary school kids with smartphones, and they have XXX porn at their fingertips. Teens are seeing much worse than a Thai BL show to get their values from. Squid Games and Game of Thrones are much more disturbing, yet they are lauded, and fans want more. Squid Games was #1 in many countries, and teens were watching.

Thank you for listening and I hope that i didn't come on too strong. I just miss the days when we could disagree cordially, then end up friends.

I really appreciate everyone who writes their opinions on this show (either positive or negative) without insulting…
I think that some people have been conditioned to react to things by socials, and they apply situational ethics to justify their point of view. Examples: ITSAY/IPYTM, hella "toxic" relationship where Oh had to conform to Teh's emotional whims, and wait for Teh to make up his mind before deciding if he could be happy. Oh gets a boyfriend, Teh falls apart and ruins it for Oh. Then years later, Teh cheats on Oh, but tells him he did not ever think of breaking up with him. Audience called it a "masterpiece." In Not Me, White catfished Sean, even after having sex with him, the series was filled with American 1960's style protest rhetoric, while very little screen time was given to the disabled, impoverished, mother, but called a "masterpiece." That's why I agree with you that "toxicity" is too vague and is very subjective.

Using the rhetoric on these boards, it's kind of xenophobic to expect Thais to react and
respond to stories in the way this board wants them to. These series and stories are for a Thai audience, and the production is Thai, and much of the Thai audience appears to love this series. Xenophobia takes place when "we" look down on the Thai's who enjoy this show because "our" point of view is "superior" to theirs.
