The female lead has set a clear boundary and never crossed it with him. If he generally likes her then he needs to respect the boundary she set.
To add. I don't hate SML. But I don't like him. If he was in your face for everything. I would probably respect that. He does shady things and manipulate people and events to get what he wants. Regardless if the person wants it or not. You can't push it insert yourself like that.

People need to be held accountable for their action regardless of their background.
For example male lead has trauma but he is responsible for his action and how he handled it with the female lead earlier on. It was wrong and he owned up to it.
I sympathize with somebody who has PTSD more. The constant living nightmare awake and asleep. The panic attacks.... doesn't help that someone's taunting you and telling you you're a horrible human being (accident is your fault somehow) even though you didn't do anything

The issue is people being delusional and romanticizing something sort of toxic and behavior.
I have like a bad protagonist. Just because he's appealing. But I did not like the character, because he's evil. And we could joke. He's a walking red flag but I'm color blind... I have not shipped the evil villain with the FL. Because he's so horrible human being but I Vibe with that characters Aura and charisma. And Visually Is appealing

Even then it started out as a calculation and a tool to provoke someone. He says he likes her but he is still using her as a tool to provoke ml and keeps throwing that in his face to taunt him. Ml has done nothing to him.

The character is still Shady. Until he showed me genuine moral compass and attempt to just be a kind human being to everybody. He doesn't have a Redemption for me yet.
His fake niceness and pleasantly to the public is a facade. He's arrogant and thinks he's better than other people. When he has no backbone or even real boldness without his dad's money, power and backing.
Just because Mommy and Daddy didn't give him enough love doesn't mean he could be an A-hole to other people. He uses people for his own gains and don't care what happens to them. For example that employee he used.

I work with kids who has PTSD and very sad
