The FL is a great character and call out his BS. She is genuine in her interaction with everyone.
That is when he realized this person is someone that he could have genuine interaction with and she continues to show him that. She show him non-judgmental compassion. Who wouldn't fall for that type of human being. I'll be 6 ft under falling for her too. She makes it very comfortable and at ease for people to talk to her. They written the female leads character amazingly. Both of the female character have high emotional intelligence

The set is real the VR is for the visual effect. Like seeing the ghosts and when he shot it it had cherry blossom falling from it. And certain structural things
There is distance because he puts it there like her own son. The mom is this associated with everything and is in her Utopia world. But she shows her care by asking him how he's doing and making sure he eats. He gets that from her often since they live together

He never once asked her if that is what she wants. She never gave any type of body language to indicate that's what she wants.
