Friends

Okay, after watching Ichihachi's subs I feel that the transition from the rooftop to the "morning after" scene isn't as abrupt as I originally thought. Kurosawa asked if Adachi was okay with losing/ready to lose his magic, and Adachi confirmed he was. Cue the "morning after" losing his magic.

I think the only thing I would have added to the rooftop scene to lead to the morning scene would have been like 5 seconds of Kurosawa turning to give Adachi a heated look and a smirk, and Adachi looking back at him, getting flustered but looking determined and excited while fighting to retain eye contact.
Not gonna lie, I really wish we had actually seen a kiss between KuroDachi, but the bed scene almost makes up for it, it was so intimate and adorable and reminded me of my fave Thai BL couple.

Also, the silver lining to no actual lip touch is we didn't get a fish kiss, and the almost kisses/teases we did get had very good chemistry, so we can just image what comes next if we want to.

ALSO also, we didn't actually get to see their first kiss, so I'm gonna headcanon that Adachi initiated it and Kurosawa got extremely flustered haha

Where are my ACE peeps?!! Was this not the PERFECT drama for us? Omg I tend to roll my eyes at romance and steamy…
I'm ace, so I think that's one reason I enjoyed this drama and it's emotional resonance so much. That being said, I can also enjoy seeing others engage in physical intimacy if I see chemistry/a connection. So I would have liked to have seen an actual lip touch between KuroDachi, although I have to admit even the "teases" we saw of their kisses had 1000x more chemistry than TsugeMinato's kisses. Still feel a bit cheated though.
Some rambling thoughts after processing the episode, maybe not completely accurate as I was too distracted by the angst to pay close attention to everything going on:

Episode 9, Adachi admits that when he's overwhelmed he retreats into his shell, and that's exactly what he does at the end of this episode. After days of stewing in his insecurities, both not wanting to rely on the magic but feeling like he has to, he reaches a precipice. His indeciveness freezes him, and when Kurosawa gives him an out, he takes it. It may not be the right choice, but at least it was *a* choice to take.

Episode 10, Kurosawa admits that his "perfect" nature is him just trying to please people, including Adachi, with little concern for his own wellbeing-- and he ends up doing exactly that at the end of this episode. He's caring, understanding, willing to give Adachi whatever he wants. He tells Adachi to make the choice that will hurt him less, and when he sees Adachi frozen with indecision, he makes a suggestion, and Adachi seizes on it. In a way, his response was "perfect," and that's why I think it was the wrong response. "Perfect", in this case, is not best.

So, at the end, both of them retreated into their respective shells, trying to protect themselves. Disappointing to be sure, but entirely understandable. It's my hope, and belief, that the final episode will allow both of them to be just a little bit braver, a little bit more open and less reactionary, and forge a future together that is so much brighter.

(Also, Adachi now knows where Kurosawa planned to have their Christmas Eve date, so I'm hoping the bike scene at the beginning of episode 1 is him rushing there.)
I know I wish the episodes were longer a lot, but the advantage to such short episodes really does show in that there's no filler, and we don't waste time on misunderstandings and miscommunications that drag on for multiple episodes, and I love that. I think that's also the advantage of having slightly older characters than other BL dramas: they are actually more willing to talk out their problems. (Will I regret writing this when the next few episodes air? I hope not.)

Having said that, and while I do love the tightly written story, I wish there was a *little* more time for other relationships and for side characters, especially the women. I wanna see sibling antics with Kurosawa and his sister, who's only shown up in 3 scenes. Does Kurosawa have any friends? Have Fujisaki and Adachi gotten any closer? A girl wants to know, darn it!

Ah well, I guess that's what fanfic is for. XD

You just witnessed the most common fish kiss in japanese drama hahah though there are some series with good kissing…
I had heard that Japanese dramas didn't have very good kiss scenes, but I figured it would be the typical dry lip press that is common in BLs. 2gether had a bunch of those, and I liked that drama anyway, so I thought I knew what to expect. I didn't expect that Minato would kiss Tsuge with an expression on his face like he's staring into the abyss haha

Like, I don't need TharnType or even DeanPharm levels of smooching, but I would appreciate if it didn't look like the actors turned into ceramic dolls in the scene.
KuroDachi are the cutest thing ever, I love them and their sweet life so much! And TsugeMinato are sweet, but honestly that kiss was probably the worst one I've ever seen, and not because it was a simple lip press. I could headcanon it as Tsuge being awkward if it was just him, but Minato, to me, just looked like he did not want to be doing it. Just staring straight ahead, unblinking, does not make me think you actually want to be kissing him. Like, at least look at his face or lips or something!

Actually, watching it again, Tsuge actually seemed more into it than Minato did. I really hope any KuroDachi kiss is better.

Anyway, that's my one gripe about this episode. My favourite parts were the hug (rocking back and forth! I Love It!!), the lovey-dovey domesticity, all the lip bites and the lip lick, and Minato going "I'll be gentle." I have to admit, I did not see THAT coming.

Also I freaked out during the whole bed scene-- I know it's just Kurosawa's fantasy, but Adachi looking nervous af but still reaching up to cup Kurosawa's neck oh-so-softly Took. Me. Out! That does give me hope that any KuroDachi kiss will deliver. <3

Anyway, now that I've written an impromptu essay, I'm going to go rewatch the episode lol
