Great to bad ...
I started watching this series and was instantly hooked on it. I'm not sure why, but it was just so intriguing, wondering how this relationship of an ordinary man would get involved and attached to a well known singing star idol. If you would have asked me to rate this series after the first six episodes, I would have given 10's across the board. It was just that great ...But seriously, I have no idea what happened. The last three episodes were just horrible. I hate to use that word, horrible, and I've never used that word before in a review, but that's the only word I can think of.
Nothing against the acting or the actors, in fact, they were fantastic. Se Jong and Suzy did a great job at giving us two great performances, Ha Young, too ... but the story just fell apart in episodes 8 & 9.
By the time the last episode played out, I was just counting the minutes until it was over, hoping for a great finish. I wanted to see some conclusion that would leave me feeling like I did after the first six episodes ... but it didn't happen.
..... And the ending? I didn't get the ending at all. I watched the last 10 minutes twice, thinking I missed something, but I still didn't get it. Complete confusion as the credits rolled, along with total disappointment.

Comedy / Drama / Suspense rolled together
This truly was a great series from the very beginning right through the end. I'm always a fan of Kyung Ho and he did not disappoint in his unique role as Chi Yeol. He and Do Yeon make great entertainment together in this sometimes drama, sometimes comedy. I don't get the craziness everyone has for an advanced math tutor, the trillion dollar man, but once I get beyond that, this was extremely enjoyable to watch. There's much more comedic situations early on, gradually changing into a much more dramatic format blending with some definite suspense tones later. From episode 11 on, everything really takes an enormous change of direction. The shocking revelations that take place in the later part of the series makes for some fantastic entertainment.
Eui Shik & Jae Ha, seeing them in other roles, you really appreciate their performances in this drama. Truly impressive.
The rest of the supporting cast, Chae Min, Yoon Seo & Min Jae really complete the puzzle in making this a great series to rewatch a second time.
I think what stopped me from giving out a 10 as an overall rating was the final two episodes. I really didn't get the long lost mother showing up from Japan, creating a new drama story that really wasn't needed. Not only showing up, but her departure in the final episode was so casually accepted, it was hardly spoken of after her exit. We were still reeling from the shocking chain of events that occurred in the previous two episodes, it was not necessary at all to add that in.
That being said, this is definitely a series to enjoy. Great entertainment!!!

Money Does Buy Happiness
This is a pretty unique concept on superheroes ... each needing something to sustain their power. Money, alcohol & food is the fuel for our heroes to thrive.Jun Ho is great, as always. He gives just the right touch of humor and drama to make it work. I think if you're watching this to be a marvel comic story like series, you'll be disappointed. This is more of a "down to earth" superhero story with many complications along the way. The one big problem being money! Sang Ung needs money to give him his powers, but unfortunately he's always flat broke. So a recurring part of the drama his having him find cash just when he needs his powers the most.
As usual, you have your share of antagonists trying to stop the protagonists throughout the series. Chae Min, as the extremely evil villain, works into the story with perfection. He's so good at being so bad, you can't help but despise him as you get deeper into the episodes. There's many other people to hate, but he's definitely the strength of the supporting cast.
I think the only thing I found to be a bit much was a large chunk of the final episode. I think it went on a little too long. There was a certain point the story could have ended ... but just when you thought it was finished, it started up and began all over again. I think it was over the top. I also wish we had more of Bo Ah. She was just a flash in a few scenes, but it should have been more.
That being said, overall this was a really "good feel" drama/comedy with a very satisfying ending. Jun Ho adds another enjoyable series to his career.

Too Much Gore, Not Enough Story
This story seemed kind of intriguing at the beginning. I love a good horror series. It seemed to have a blend of shamanism with a touch of "The Ring" horror movie blended together. A count down of 24 hours instead of seven days ....However, there was real difficulty for me getting pulled into this story. At times it was a bit confusing and a little mixed up with the direction of the plot. It seemed to be focused on blood and gore. I mean, I get it, it's a horror theme, so naturally you need the blood and cutting flesh and all the good stuff that goes with it ... but it just seemed to be excessive, showing the same scenes over and over again.
It wasn't until episode 5 that the series started to redeem itself. I'm kind of glad I was able to stick it out that long, because there were a few times I just about gave up on it. From episode 5 through the final episode, it was a much more enjoyable watch. The characters become more in focus, as does the story, too ... all except the ending.
Not exactly sure what the ending is trying to suggest or hint at maybe a sequel?? but it really didn't work for me.
Overall, not a bad series, but could have been so much better!!!!!

Packed With Suspense
The first episode sets the table for what you know will b e an excellent thriller ... I'm kind of surprised how many people mentioned in their reviews that there was complete predictability with this story. I found the exact opposite. You are kept guessing who the protagonists and the REAL antagonists are through most of the series. Your suspicions keep swapping back and forth through each episode. Other than Ha Joon's character, you really can't trust anyone.Jung Hyun, who I'm always a fan of, is incredible in his performance. He's kind of mysterious early on, but in later episodes he becomes dark and emotional with a disturbing tone. He was definitely a major plus with this cast.
To me, the sign of a good drama/thriller, you keep coming back for more. Having to wait each week for a new episode, it definitely tells you that the writing & acting was good enough to keep you on edge, wanting to come back for more.
The last couple of episodes there are a few things you kind of guess will happen along the way, but overall, a really enjoyable series with a very satisfying conclusion.

Such unlikable characters
This is a story that was painful to watch. I found myself rooting against both protagonists. Neither one have any set of morals. Lying, cheating, and betrayal are their characteristics ... and yet somehow we're supposed to watch and enjoy this relationship deepen and develop through each episode. I just couldn't do it. I watched it, hoping for a different outcome, but it never happened. Nothing against the actors Hina Higuchi or Masachi Ikeda, but the people they portrayed were just awful individuals.Neither one of them felt remorse for hurting other people around them, just as long as they ended up in bed together. The character of Makoto Kusaka, played by Naoya Kusakawa, was so good in nature, making for an even more difficult watch as he was just cast aside by Mihono.
I'm glad there were only eight episodes to watch ... it was seven episodes too much.

Dark & Brilliant
This is truly one of the most bizarre dramas you'll see, and from minute one you won't be able to stop watching it. Besides being dark, it can be a bit graphic and disturbing at times, and yet they still find a way to put some comedy into it as well. The entire five protagonists are absolutely perfect together, as well as the actors portraying these dark characters. They're a tight-knit family, and oh boy, what a family they are. Doo Na is so fantastic playing the mother, as is Seung Beom as her husband. The couple to end all couples. The kids are exactly what you would expect with parents like that. Lomon & Su Hyun complete this family circle with cold macabre acting. The perfect pair to fill these roles.
I think the only negative I have to say is that it was too short a series. Six episodes went by so fast, I wanted another six.
Thankfully I see that there will be a season 2, hopefully in 2026. Judging how it ended, you kind of had hopes they would return.
Dark entertainment at its best!!

Good, but the story needed a bit more to sink your teeth into!
If you start watching this thinking this is going to be a deep story with twists & turns, you'll be extremely disappointed. This was a simple BL with a vampire theme thrown in to make it more interesting. The story does work and there's really no major surprises along the way.I wasn't familiar with any of the actors in this series, but they all blended well together. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of them as their careers get going.
I guess the one complaint I have, would be wanting more of an in depth history on how everyone came to be. How, where & when they were turned into vampires, what happened before and after being turned ... just the basic stuff. Nothing was ever really shared about that. I think it would have added as a big positive to the series overall.
In the end, things all work out for a nice happy ending, just as you would have expected. No stake through the heart, no dirt filled coffins. That would be for a different type of series!

Dark & Mysterious
This wasn't what I expected when I began watching, but it does turn out to be a very in-depth story to follow with a lot of twists & turns. It becomes so bizarre at times, but you can't stop watching it.The main character, Hong Rang, appears to be antagonist at the beginning, but this is the type of story where nothing appears to be what it is. There were so many times I forgot who was actually good and who was bad in this series. It changes so much, you get mixed up on who to root for.
Bo Ah is great, as always. She never disappoints in bringing out every emotion possible on screen. Her, paired up with Jae Wook make a great team, although you wouldn't think so early on. These two evolve into a very believable couple.
Another character that really fools you into showing his true colors was Mu Jin. This character was tough to figure out, and Ga Ram shows us both sides of his talents at being liked and being disliked.
I think though, without a doubt, the most disturbing and evil character was Prince Han Pyeong. What an excellent job Kim Jae Wook does at bring out this wicked madman on camera. He's the perfect antagonist giving us such a disturbing performance. His death scene at the very end is brilliant and so well deserved.
Overall, it's a dark toned thriller & love story rolled into one. It makes for a great watch, becoming extremely entertaining, especially the later episodes.

Ups & Downs Of A Family
This is a series that will grab you right away. It's kind of slow moving, but if you give it a chance, you'll definitely get hooked to keep watching. It's a bit of a complicated story with two brother in laws dealing with the loss of a wife/sister and having to rely on one another for several reasons. I think the one thing I found fault with, was that the main protagonist really wasn't such a jerk as the title leaves you to believe. Ippei has some faults, but overall you'll find him a pretty good person.Jun Shison is great in his role as the loving father of two of the most adorable kids you'll see. Every time they appear on screen, you can't help but smile, especially the little boy, Asahi. He steals every scene he's in.
The last three episodes definitely get a bit more dramatic, and it makes you kind of wonder how this will end on a positive note. It makes for a good final episode. I think the one thing I would have hoped for was a bit more of a climatic ending. It was good, but I was wishing for a bit more.
Overall, a feel good series from start to finish

Very Realistic BL
This was a really enjoyable series to follow. It's a very realistic BL drama showing the true struggles for two men in today's society on how to deal with their emotions and the obstacles they keep running into along the way. It's a slow moving story, but very entertaining with some meaningful storylines blended together with a touch of comedy, too.I wasn't familiar with anyone in this cast, but they all do such a great job at keeping it interesting, without all the glamour & fluffiness of a typical BL series. Mitsuhiro Oikawa mixes well with Yuya Tegoshi, showing you sadness and loneliness, but can also put a smile on your face with the comedy wit they both possess.
The supporting cast adds some side stories that all center around these two main protagonists. Just a nice all around series to enjoy!!

Mixed up teenage love
This drama is an extremely innocent story about first love crushes and how a group of teenagers deal with it. The problem is, everyone seems to have crushes on the wrong person. There's so much unrequited love in this drama, it gets extremely annoying to watch.I'm not a fan at all of the lead male protagonist, Ren. Nothing against the actor, Kyohei Takahashi, but his character is so cold, boring and has zero personality ... and yet everyone seems to confess their love to him. I just don't get it. He's not a bad looking guy, but nothing else seems to play in his favor. To me, the only "normal" character is this series appears to be Takumi. He has a sense of humor, great personality and seems to show emotion better than anyone. Coki Yamashita does a great job at making him extremely likable.
The last episode left much to be desired as it ends. I see that a second season is coming out, so I'm hoping to see an overall improvement on the story, as well as the maturity of the characters.

Great Series with a Horrible Ending!
This was such an enjoyable series from episode 1. I'm a fan of both Go Eun & Jin Young from past performances, so I went into this series knowing this would definitely be a good watch. The first 13 episodes were fantastic. The Cells were such great entertainment, not to mention so realistic when you realized how they handled each situation Yu Mi put them in. As you get deeper into the series, the chemistry between Yu Mi & Ba Bi really becomes strong. You watch them deal with ups and downs in their relationship, not to mention several antagonists trying to meddle in their lives. They managed to get through it all as we headed for the final episode. which appeared to be setting up for a great happy ending ...
And then the finale. I went from enjoying this series so much, to absolute disgust. I finished episode 14 and thought, this is what I just wasted 14 hours on? I couldn't believe how this wrapped up. It was truly such a disappointment. I wasn't going to even waste my time giving a review on it, but I had to express how this really made me feel. I've left reviews for so many series over time on kisskh and I can honestly say this is the first time I've ever left a review like this.
I see that season 3 is coming out for this series. I will not bring myself to watch it!

Good lighthearted story.
This was a series that seemed to have so much potential. I don't want to say I was somewhat disappointed, because at times this was so entertaining. It had some good to even great comedy, as well as some dramatic tones mixed in. There just seemed to be something missing to make this a great story.I'm always a fan of Ryosuke Yamada. I've loved all his work and he never disappoints. It was just one of those stories that gets you a bit aggravated, because when revelations happened, leading to misunderstandings between the protagonists , nothing is said to correct it, causing things to blow way out of proportion. You find yourself saying "SAY SOMETHING" "TELL THEM WHAT REALLY HAPPENED"
It gets kind of frustrating over the course of the series.
After the story reveals major changes in episode 5, you definitely feel the relation become believable on screen. This is about the same time the antagonists finally show up. Once this happens, the dramatic part of the series begins to take over.
Togo & Ayaka make a great couple, making it even more enjoyable watching this marriage play out, first as a scam, but then as true romance. There's some great scenes between the two and both actors blend extremely well together.
It does deliver some good final episodes, so overall it was a very entertaining series ... with a happy ending for all.

At times very frustrating to watch
This is a series with a good story, but will get you extremely aggravating while watching. Out of the four main characters, I found only Gyeon, played by Se Jin, to be the true entertainment throughout each episode. The lead protagonist, Do Ha is so clueless, as three guys are literally falling all over him for his affection. It's completely frustrating for him not to even see how they're going out of their way to win him over. Somehow, even with so much animosity between the three suitors, they always end up at the same table for drinks or food wanting to kill each other with their looks. Very bizarre to say the least. The one saving grace are the last two episodes ... that rescued the series and corrected for all the wrongs from early on. The two that were totally meant to be together from the very beginning, ends up exactly as you had hoped.
I do hate the fast forward endings where years are skipped over, but at least this solidified the relationship we saw happen between the two. Episode 8 was indeed very enjoyable, so I kind of forgot the true annoyance I was experiencing early on.
Overall it ended up being good, but it could have been so much better with a few changes.
