This may contain spoilers but Here's what I see,
The Live Action S2EP1 = Donghua S5EP5 so they rewind the events of several stories to make the storyline better,
while the Live Action S1 Ending merged the story of 3 Year Agreement and the fall of Misty Cloud Sect which actually separated in the Donghua and that made the storyline really messed up

in simple order, the story is like this
- S1 : Jia Nan > 3 Year Agreement & The Fall of Misty Cloud Sect and Separated from Yao Lao
- Donghua : 3 Year Agreement > Jia Nan > The Fall of Misty Cloud and Separated from Yao Lao

So in this Season 2 of Live Action, They just deleted the part "The Fall Of Misty Cloud Sect" so he is still with Yao Lao and I assume that Misty Cloud Sect is still there (maybe? This is just my opinion, btw I only watch till episode 4)
That will conclude the story of season 2 will be more like this
- S2 : Jia Nan > To Be Continued
And with this, I will assume that Maybe they will make the storyline to be more similar to the Donghua

not really, its still watchable (ofc its all about personal preference), the feedback from some people is just the dissapointment of several different stories from s1 and different cast and maybe because they compare it to the donghua version
for me personally what i keep thinking is that the characters have different personalities (ml and fl)... idk, its just feel like they're not the XY and Xuner i know

His charisma has became comedy in live action

Yeah ikr but sadly that's what make me attracted to the S1 and been waiting years for continuation, now i think it will be more similar to Donghua but hopefully it will not be too rushed and miss some interesting story/scene like when he join the Academy

I don't really mind about the cast change, what matter most for me is the S1 has officially became cliffhanger for lifetime

True, in Live Action S1 I was really curious about why Xun Er took the ancient jade from Xiao Yan in the ending scene and What's her mission from her ancestor, that ending scene really made me curious and really want to see the continuation, in Donghua that scene doesn't exist as Xiao Yan is not nearly death when fighting Nalan Yanran and Misty Cloud Sect because Hai Bo Dong and Ling Ying (Xun Er Bodyguard) help him from the elders, Medusa help Him to escape for the first time and Finally when Xiao Yan go back to Misty Cloud Sect to ask about his father, Yao Lao help him to make the Angry Buddha Lotus Flame to escape again from Yun Shan... But now they have made the story more similar to Donghua, episode 1 is like a continuation from the Donghua Special Season, so my curiosity decreased because I already watched how he goes to Jia Nan Academy in Donghua S5 (it's different from the Donghua on how he qualified to join the Academy, I think it's a bit rushed here or maybe they just didn't want to make it more similar)

The Donghua version is also good

i get the second lead syndrome... and it's not because the "CEO and capable to do all thing" thingy, but because the story build for the second lead is deeper than the main lead male because from young age he already been there to support the female lead.... he also really cares about the girl's grandma and vice versa, from the start the story is made like the boy has already become the girl's soul mate because they helped each other indirectly when they were young. Even as an adult the man helped a lot. If the story is only focused on the friendship between the two of them being friends it might still be acceptable... unfortunately it brings them to the side of love that doesn't reach. And also he got his Job and Capable of lot thing because of his hardwork.
