Yes, but his journey doesn't end there, if im not wrong the novel last title is 'The end is also A Beginning'. He will later join with Mu Chen and Lin Dong becoming The Great Ruler, they became the ruler of Great Thousand World. Also his daughter Xiao Xiao is a friend of Mu Chen, his first appearance in The Great Ruler is when he wants to save Mu Chen, Xiao Xiao and the other friends, at that moment he is already titled Flame Di and his name already has lot of reputation among the worlds. So it was some more advanced timeline after he defeated Hun Di

note: Mu Chen is the MC of "The Great Ruler", Lin Dong is the MC of "Martial Universe". There are also live action and donghua of both story

I see, so you only saw the FBS verse and got attracted and this season 2 is something that you want, but everything is not as expected. Same as me actually i got attracted to season 1 because it was kinda different than donghua verse... it's really annoying that they don't follow the story of s1, not only that but the personality of main character is also not as expected since they maybe add more comedy in this... what a mess

About the interest of Nalan Yanran, it's actually a one-sided Interest, she gain interest to xiaoyan is because xiaoyan is now strong and xiaoyan help her grandfather when he get poisoned (and actually she got lot of hate from btth viewer)

sorry all I found is cai lin/medusa is xiaoyan wife, they have a daughter together called xiao xiao which they got when xiaoyan cultivate fallen heart flame and medusa help him (Donghua S5 Episode 41)

Yeah, if I am not wrong in FBS there's a scene when they go to the magic beast mountain or whatever the name is, xiaoyan and yunyun jump in water together to seek some treasure/skill/relic tbh I didn't really remember, also they stuck in a cave where they got attack by monsters and hallucinations and that's when they start to gain interest to each other but later after xiaoyan destroy misty cloud they will go their own way respectively (btw nalan yanran is yunyun disciple). About nalan yanran, she was the one who canceled the engagement of her and xiaoyan because back then yao lao absorbed xaioyan dou qi and he became weak, later after xiaoyan became strong she felt bad and sorry for him but it was just too late, in xiaoyan head she is one of the antagonist and one of many reason why misty cloud need to be destroyed

MCs in Great Thousand World pretty much just got max 2 wives (mu chen only have 1 though which is great, he was also the youngest TGR), the other are just a short stories or interest. Also xiaoyan didnt have good relation with nalan yanran, the only girl he interest from misty cloud is yun yun

I think there's no such thing as "primary" "secondary", he loves them equally.. Yes he has 2 wives, but there's a chance that he will get more on his journey to becoming TGR

I don't really know, but from what I see in a comment posted by @Enigma05 about what they say in their social media that "they told me that this is more of like a spin-off as opposed to a continuation", and maybe there's some part of the story that will be confusing but this confusion is because the messed storyline of season 1 so you can't really blame it all on this season (this season they just follow the original storyline) but actually even though storyline in S1 is somewhat random, there's some part that has been told on season 1 so they just make this as "Season 2".

About Hu Jia, She is a Female in the Donghua and Her first appearance is in Season 5 which is newer than Live Action Season 1 (Like I said before, this S2 follows Donghua/Manhwa so There's nothing wrong with it) About the traits, I don't really know but I'm sure Xiao Yi Xian is also there in this Season.

About the wings and the green lotus core flame, Xiao Yan got it even before he got to the academy so it all make sense since they only cut out the part of Misty Cloud Fall, and right now He is trying to get the Fallen Heart in Jia Nan Academy (it's sealed under the academy and become the academy cultivation place) then after he separated from Yao Lao he get the Bone Chilling (That's Yao Lao Heavenly Flame) so He will control 3 Flame later

Conclusion:
Like I said in Season 2 they kinda re-align the storyline so there's a chance that the cliffhanger in Season 1 will be in the middle part of Season 2 (maybe)...
Simply if you are S1 Audience, just think that the ending of S1 still has not Happened and think only that he already beat Nalan Yanran Not The Whole Misty Cloud Sect because what actually happened after He defeated Yanran he escaped from Yun Shan and came to the Academy to become stronger first then later come back to wipe the Higher Up and Protector of Misty Cloud that makes them disbanded like the ending of S1
