I left this account for 3 days, and the rating has already drop to 8.3. Who is doing this?

She's literally one of my favorite actress.

I thought it would be like an 8.4 or an 8.5 for everyone. I was so shock by this community. I mainly watch it for the actress because she was really good in Yanxi that's why I gave it a try, but the people who gave it a 7.5 rating are literally bunch of romance K-drama watcher giving rating such as a 10 for trash K-dramas like nevertheless and true beauty.

Actually, the romance is really similar to the Yanxi palace, so I don't know if you want to give it a try.

If you like plotting and a smart female lead drama, watch it. The romance is confusing but isn't the main plot point and is historically based off of the events during that historical period.

Okay but who is doing it like her? After being almost cancelled from a scandal, she's still out her being the female lead. That's honestly queen energy we need.

If this drama gets the same treatment as legend of Hao Lan, I would be so dissapointed. The way some of you would rate legend of Hao Lan really low has bothered me so much. This better not be the same incident as the Legend of Hao Lan. How did such a perfect drama like Legend of Hao Lan ended up having a 7.7 rating? like were you'll not watching the same thing. Any who, people who are bias please just enjoy this drama and stop acting like drama critic to displease yourself and your experience.

Sorry for the late reply. I had a lot of errand to run these days, and my summer schedule completely is completely full. Respectfully, I disagree with your latter statement because the absence of chemistry can be ignored when it is a Wuxia type drama or a historical one. Just look at Joy of life from the actor's previous work of art; he had barely any chemistry with her and the women barely showed up in any of the episodes. She was essentially a supporting character. I know people hate the lack of chemistry or romance, but it is so normalize to the point where people tend to ignore like me. I used to only watch dramas if the romance or chemistry was decent, but now a good plot is enough to keep me intrigue. I know this is subjective, but I actually enjoy a lot of SSS's fighting scene, but that's probably because my experience with Wuxia type drama is limited. I have attempted to watch as many Wuxia type drama, but I tend to not like a lot of them because I'm more intrigue with political, historical drama rather than fighting and martial arts. I think what contributed to me liking that show even more was one of my favorite childhood actor was in there and he play the role of the master which I also enjoy.

Should I start on this drama or wait until it is finish and then binge watch it? I hating waiting for it.

I recommend watching his act with Zhao liying. it is phenomenal. It is called the legend of Lu zhen.

Is it just me but I feel like the quality of historical drama fell off after 2018-2019 like the classic feels and the quality of historical dramas are missing in all these recent dramas except for in snow sword stride and joy of life?

Why are you criticizing only them when the male lead is like that too? Though I do agree with some of your statement about the two actress.

I agree with Joy of life is not the masterpiece everyone is hyping up to be, but it is definitely a top must watch drama. I disagree with the fact that 30 plus can't play a teenager when this issue is so minor and irrelevant to the story plot because it mentions the characters are young, and the actors and actress do act like a young teenager. How is the male lead an asshole? I don't think he is necessarily an upright person, but he defiantly stick to the principle that bad guy gets what they deserve and good guys receive the award they sow. Also, his acting is better than most of the actors in this generation like he is definitely a top notch actor and just because his roles lack diversity doesn't mean he is a bad actor. Many people who obtain this role can't even act properly. I would say his manner was annoying, but it reflects the mannerism of a teenager he is portraying.

I think the character of Zi Wei is fine but many wanted this cunning and smart women who isn't weak, but I disagree because this version of her is fine and serves the plot well. I like her growth and development and her courage sometime. I think this is the character that I most disagree with the Cnetizen because their vision of Zi Wei is way different than what it is in the show. I also disagree with Benjamin because I think I like his comedy and he was a helper to Xiao Yanzi. He diffused the situation and solve the issue of Xiao Yanzi which I really like because Xiao Yanazi being this ignorant outside whose respect for other is dependent on her idea of good and bad. I honestly think Xiao Yanzi's approach was bad but everything she learned defined her character and developed this character, though still funny and energetic, but more mature in the end. I think Benjamin was fine; I think he really should have been the most liked character because he is often compose and dissolve the situation in the most cunning way. As for acting, I really don't notice because I liked this acting more than original because I feel like the originals character was way too exaggerated which I tend to not like that much. I think the screenwriter's biggest mistake was adding Yonqi's wife because her position which I truly do not like because the way she persistently approach someone even though the person had informed her that they didn't like her, and she was cunning in a way which I don't blame her since all the odds were stacked against her. I think the most prized possession in this drama was the adventure they had withstood and the suffering because it really defined and shape the character and really tells the audience who they are as a person. Though many disliked this character, I think it stems from comparison to the original. Had this drama been a different drama, I think it would have done really well.

I think the character of Yonqi is the most pitiful one out of the character because his disadvantage really was his mother's approval for her and his filialty towards his mother. Yonqi had wife who really wasn't wrong because she wanted him as much Xiao Yanzi and would bring him more benefit than her. Though the screenwriter had attempted to write her as a bad character, they failed miserably to do because she was only complying with the rule and her method of seduction complies isn't necessarily wrong. Though it is often depicted that women should never seduce a man, but what about the other way around way which men is often praised for in this patriarchal society. I think her character only fall short on the fact that she really wants Yonqi and her desire for wealth and status in this society while putting down other women. Her tactics was flawless because she attacks yonqi weakness which is his mother and persuading her into marrying with him. I think Yonqi really has the purest heart but only fails so in delivering it. I think Yonqi's character is not that bad because his strength was that he was dedicated towards his love for Xiao Yanzi and that his belief he can protect her with everything he has which is truly admirable. His only weakness was his mother. As for Xiao Yanzi, I really like the direction of her character and her attempts at changing the palace into her ideal of what is good but fail so because she inadvertently provoked other. Her respect for other characters is dictated by her judgement if they are good or not. She really is an ignorant and an outsider of the palace and her ideal really doesn't comply with the palace.

Many of the statements they stated I disagree with. Though this was a historical drama, there should have been element of universal law that karma exist and good triumphs bad and good people will have some form of rewards. Historical drama doesn't have to be realistic and based off of historical records and what actually happen. Many dramas these day tend to suffer the same fate of tragedy and sadness that occupies most historical drama which can be a hit or miss for me. I think the screenwriter was really trying to deliver this message that good and love will always triumph evil and villainous plan, but fail to do so because most netizen tend to occupy the mindset of realism and what actually should have happen while providing some form of perspective on the idea of respect for elders and for other people. Not saying this is wrong, but the character of Xiao Yanzi has no idea of what this is because she values the basic of what is good and evil and that her love will eventually shine. Xiao Yanzi represent what the screenwriter thinks of other character. She has a liberal idea in a conservative time. Yonqi is in the same boat as her and unfilial towards his mother and avoiding his responsiblity. Many actually praised the character of Yonqi's wife which I was really surprise about because she is filial and puts her responsibility first before love and Xiao Yanzi is just an obstacle between both them. I understand the perspective of what the Cnetizien are coming from but Yonqi represents the idea of love and overcoming hard obstacles. Yonqi really was infatuated with Xiao Yanzi and his love for her is openly express and is dedicated towards, but because of his position he couldn't do so.

Cnetizien are literally the craziest people on earth. Many of them are comparing the original with this one when the direction and the plot was so different that it could have been a new drama. If you guys want to know why they are complaining about this drama, I can simplify it for you guys. Long story short, this drama was really different from the original one, the characters are different, the acting was horrible, the plot was bad, the character, Benjamin, was out of the plot and unnecessarily, Yonqi should have taken Xiao Yanzi as concubine, some the actors were ugly, and the character of Xiao Yanzi was really privileged and rude.

Controversial opinion: this is a little better than the original, but I don't agree with the character of Zi Wei, I feel like she should have partaken more in the action rather than the supporting role like the original one. I hate the fact cnetizien is comparing this with the original when this was like a remake. Maybe it was good that my parents show the remake before the original one.

After only watching 3 episodes, I am so mad because the female should have just loved the crown prince like girl you have someone after you and they are the crown pricne who would love you entirely.
