Repeating this for people who think Yuan was stupid for trying to find Le Ge (not Hu): (Spoilers ahead, don't read if you don't want to be spoiled)
One thing to remember is that Yuan is someone who has seen what Hu did to Qian the last time. He was a child and that violence left a deep impression on him. So when he finds out that Hu is after Qian again, he sees an opportunity to nip it in the bud by going to find Le Ge (who's back after 10 years) and get him to stop Hu.
Yuan didn't go looking for Le Ge to pick a fight. He wanted to speak to Le Ge to get Hu and his cronies to leave Qian alone except he didn't anticipate that Le Ge wouldn't be there but Hu would be.
Yuan by nature doesn't like fighting. In fact he's said before (when Qian was teaching him how to box) that he doesn't like it/doesn't want to do it. But he's also the type of person that will lay everything down on the line for Qian in whatever capacity he can, even if that means sacrificing himself for Qian.
Qian on the other hand knows Le Ge better and knew exactly where to find him to reason with him. But that's again their experiences showing.
Edit to add this quote from the book which sums up the way Yuan thinks and acts here: “I've always hoped that one day I could also protect you," Wei Zhiyuan said softly. "But you never gave me the chance. Finally, I seized one today.”
"“I had a persistent thought every day. I wished for a sudden earthquake, collapsing all the brick and mortar, burying the entire city, so I could use my flesh and blood to create a crack for you to watch me perish in your arms.”
I get why they had to insert the events of this episode but still it was ridiculous to watch. How do you go to…
Yuan didn't go to fight, he wanted to talk to Le Ge who he knows would be more reasonable and he knew that Hu was gunning for Qian. He wanted to speak to Le Ge to get Hu and his cronies to leave Qian alone except he didn't anticipate that Le Ge wouldn't be there but Hu would be. Yuan by nature isn't a "fighter" but he'll lay everything down on the line for Qian in whatever capacity he can. Qian on the other hand knows Le Ge better and knew where to find him to reason with him. But that's again their experiences showing. I think this was portrayed really well actually.
This episode went from crying over how cute Yuan is to thirsting after Sam Lin to weeping my eyes out to going crazy over that hug to losing it over the next episode preview.
This show is absolutely the BEST BL that's come out in the last few years at least. Nothing else has had me in such a chokehold. Anyone not giving this a chance is a fool that's losing out on a quality show that could put het dramas to shame.
The preview for next week, they really said suffer. This episode was as good as I thought it would be. Yuan had me on my knees by the end of it, good luck to Qian.
Edit to add: everyone please keep rating this show high per episode if you're enjoying it, it deserves the best ratings for being this good
Unfortunately, Unknown is getting rated low by people who won't even bother watching it and are just turned off…
It's not a "sibling" relationship though. He was a homeless kid and given a home to live in. They grew up together but frankly we don't think he ever saw his "brother" as a his "brother" from the get go. Which is what I mean when people watch it they'll see it differently. The whole thing is about him struggling with the internal perception of his feelings and his relationships versus how everyone else including his "brother" perceives them to actually be.
I wanted to like this but the abusive bullying and SA made it hard to root for the two couples. Tae Yi was also…
Unfortunately, Unknown is getting rated low by people who won't even bother watching it and are just turned off by the premise of it in general. Unknown is definitely one of the best if not THE best BL to release this year until now so I hope people give it a chance.
This drama was ok. The pacing at the end was a let down, though. It would have benefitted from 2-3 more episodes to tie everything better.
They introduced way too many conflicts in the last two episodes for any of the responses or reactions to be realistic. Definitely rated too high on MDL. Deserves a score in the 7s.
this is just...not good. The acting is terrible, the script makes no sense and the production budget looks non-existent. If anyone's still watching this...why?
This needs a higher rating but also I need them to release all the episodes now so that I don't have to wait torturously. This is so good, I hope it lives up to its potential.
Gave it a shot for the romance, stayed for the bromance. Love the relationship between Lin Yiyang, Meng Xiao Dong and Jiang Yang.
Honestly, the romance gets a bit tiring by the end of it in a "yes we get it you're hot & bothered for his billiard playing tushy" but this is more of a personal preference thing and less of a "it's a bad show because of this" thing. But the bromance really saved it.
So I just finished the show and it was...fine? But it absolutely needed another episode or two to iron out their relationship a bit better, everything that had the potential to be actually interesting was cramped up into the last 2 episodes and rushed. This could have definitely been paced out better in a lot of ways. Still it's the kind of show you can now choose to watch when you want to have a mindless time. It's not the worst nor is it the best.
Also the side couples were a snooze fest and more time could have been spent on developing the leads' story lines better.
Xue Shu being sentenced to death and the Eunuch smiling while carrying out the edict has to be the most morbidly entertaining thing to happen. Honestly the vicarious satisfaction was amazing.
Charlie is definitely hiding something but I have a feeling he's on Babe's side. It doesn't look like either he or Jeff are trying to hurt the team in any way yet, but rather stay close to maybe protect? Maybe I'm wrong. Side note: Pavel is unreasonably attractive.
Why must something so principally wrong feel so right. Episode 32 was HOT HOT HOT. Need this relationship to get deeper and give us the power couple we've been begging for since the get go.
This is a really solid show. It takes a few episodes to understand what's happening and who is who but once you get in line the show has an iron grip on you. One of the few shows where I didn't dare skip an episode with so much happening. Ling He is fantastic in this one.
Surprised people in the comments here haven't caught on that Kong's just playing up the nice guy ruse. He's definitely the biggest red flag out of everyone, I don't trust him one bit - or let's say he doesn't trust anyone else one bit. Excited to see if the writers will go down that route or not.
