For me, strong female characters are well-defined, and not male dependent. Even if the drama is a romance, the FL should not be two dimensional, weak, passive, naive, innocent or forgiving to the point of endangering herself or others. Better is if she is at least assertive enough to resist being pushed into saying or doing things that she knows are wrong or dumb or not in her own best interests.
Well I agree for rest but not the ML...he tackled every situation with rationally. ...he was also forgiving but…
He was not stupid, true. But he still acted against what he already knew to be true of several of the characters, allowing one (or more) of them to get second or third shots at doing terrible things.
Forgiveness is not meant to be so elastic that it permits future bad acts, especially bad actions that are caused by intentional malice.
Oh, man. This was really not good--not good to the degree that the show makes you feel like you want to hammer your computer to pieces.( Not the actors fault--they all did a great job.)
This is a typical lakorn, featuring a 2FL (she gets as much screen time as the FL and has by far the better, juicier role, so she's arguably actually the FL) who is a complete lunatic, in the most frustrating way imaginable. All the other characters give the 2FL abundant opportunities for her to screw them in fresh ways, over and over again, because their characters are written as forgiving to the point of stupidity. I hated all of them (except the "oldies"), and it would have been fine with me if Nim had pushed all of them over the cliff.
Your mileage may vary, but better you should use your time to watch re-runs.
(The angels who subbed this drama are fantastic, though.)
I watched the first episode of this and really liked it, so now I have to wait until the drama finishes airing and all the episodes are subbed to watch the rest of it so I don't kill myself with impatience.
The FL lead in this drama is among the most annoying I've ever watched. In two episodes, she's managed to capture every horrible female quality ever imagined by writers of Chinese dramas. She's a clumsy dimwit who is also childish and whiny. UGH.
I'm on episode 10. So far, this is another lakorn where the FL's misplaced gratitude makes her dumber than a box of hair, mistreated over and over again, by the same people, in the same ways. I haven't been this irritated by a FL in a Thai drama since the FL in the 2008 version of Ngao Asoke,
The original was mildly comedic, and I've always wished that it would be remade, this time as serious as the plot demanded. Since it looks like I'm getting a wish fulfilled, 2020 won't suck quite as much as it could have. Nah. 2020 sucks, no matter what.
There is a scene where May, a mentally disturbed young woman, chokes Sandee (our FL) in a fit of jealousy. She does not stop her attack until the ML, the object of her obsession, comes into the room.
There are plenty of scenes in this show that will make you want to pull out your teeth with a pair of pliers, but for me, this one was tops.
May, the attacker, appears younger and smaller than her victim, who lies on the bed, getting choked, apparently doing nothing about her imminent death. She does nothing to resist. Nothing. Then, after her accidental rescue by the ML, the victim does nothing about the person who attacked her. She doesn't say "May was trying to kill me." She doesn't grab May by the throat or hair and punch her so hard she sees stars for a week. She doesn't tell May's parents that their daughter is homicidal. Nope. Sandee just gets up off the bed and runs out of the room, guaranteeing that May, a homicidal nutball, gets another shot at trying to kill her.
Is it just me, or is this just about the stupidest thing you've ever seen?
Thank you for the article!
ps. Viki has very little Thai programming, only four shows, if you're geobased in the US.

There's skinship in this drama. It's a bit weird at times, though.
