Just completed this series.. Is it just me or did anyone kinda predict everything that was going to happen easily.. I feel like this drama was really predictable... but they did well in building suspense and making scenes dramatic. Can't ever see myself re-watching this but the acting and story was okay. Yup. 100% agree that it is overrated. It's a great show but it's not something I would re-watch mainly because of how focused the main characters were on his parents. I wanted to see more of ML & FL's story/romance and I feel like it was not shown enough.
Slow start drama but I liked this one. The romance and the acting were nice.. but other than that, nothing really stood out for me. It felt like your average romance drama. There were too many side characters as well.. I don't see the point in introducing so many side characters because it dilutes the story... and reduces the re-watchability of the drama (especially if their story isn't that impactful). However, this is still a great comfort drama and romance lovers will enjoy this!

Do Jun was actually Hyun Woo in the novel. He did actually reborn as Do Jun, he did not die by a car crash, he actually took over Soonyang, he did get get married to Min Young and he did get the perfect revenge in the end.
This drama ruined the real ending of the novel, and made it so that Do Jun and Hyun Woo were two different people. Basically episode 1 and 16 is all you need to watch for this drama. They removed all that character development from ep 2-15 just to make the drama about repentance instead of a REVENGE drama which was it's main purpose. This is why the drama's ending is terrible to most people.

Emotional Effect: The journey and character development for a character to get his revenge is what is most beautiful about these types of dramas. But guess what happens when 14+ hours of character development turns into a dream? You feel robbed of your emotions and investment in this drama. Also the fact the antagonists lived for 20 years in happiness was unsatisfying.
Logical Effect: I kept thinking of ways the ending could have been better but upon reflection of the drama itself, everything was foreshadowed because he couldn't prevent his own mother's death. Meaning his death and the dream ending was inevitable as Do Jun was unable to change the events of history. He also could not have made arrangements for Hyun Woo in the future because he assumed he was dead. Do Jun knew from the beginning that he would eventually kill himself in that accident and repeat history.
Conclusion: I do not mind the MC lost all his hard work/wealth because it was inevitable. What bothers me is the fact that I was unable to get the perfect revenge ending I envisioned. Even when Do Jun wakes up as Hyun Woo, the entire episode til the end was unsatisfying because we didnt see Soonyang and the family suffer as they should have. No jail scenes? No big reveal that he was Do Jun? I would have loved to see their faces of shock and terror. The ending simply was not impactful enough from a revenge point of view.

I had to pause the show a few times just to see them because they were a bit sneaky with it. Her facial expressions are so darn cute. Song Kang's acting was pretty good as well, especially how he can go from a demon and turn into a puppy whenever he sees FL.
The main couple is never apart for more than a whole episode. Which means every episode (from the point they get together) you will always see romance scenes with them and they are very lengthy. Also, there are no *extremely long* breaks where the main couple is apart for dumb reasons. Romance is veryy strong in this drama. You get a LOT of it.
The main lead makes good use of his powers (despite its limitations). Of course he could have done more things with it but that would make the drama boring. But personally I feel they made good use of his powers and it was refreshing to see.
The scene transitions from main couple to side characters / villains are not over done. There are no unbearable side characters (in my opinion).
The story in this kdrama is nothing too special but if you love romance kdramas as much as me, I promise you, you will definitely love this one.

Such an amazing well done FL but once again an extremely lacking ML. All his "good" moments were just romance moments.. which I dont dislike but why only those?? Seems so unfair to his character and everything he had been through. This drama had so much potential to be unique and one of my favorites but it just slowly declined midway through.
I really liked this show but I wished there was more chemistry and romance development scenes between Eun Gyeol and Eun Yu. I was lowkey annoyed how a lot of times in the show they were about to focus on their relationship, and it just cut to the parents relationship or some problem with the parents -_- Like don't get me wrong, the parents story is beautiful and heartwarming but we already know from the future they will end up together and be deeply in love.
I really really dislike how the ending was done. But I kinda understand why it has to be that way for ML and FL to live.. What I find heart breaking is how the ML suffered for so many years alone after returning to his old body after the plane accident. And the poor guy even killed himself.. so his real body version could live on.. ML died so many times😭
What bothers me is since their memories disappear in the end; all the pain, emotions and suffering you felt for the characters, also disappear for the viewer. I feel this empty feeling as if all the episodes I watched didn't mean anything. What I enjoy the most in any tv show/film is character development. And the fact that all that character development disappears in the end, I feel disappointed and saddened :/
Don't understand why people are saying lazy writing. The show explained a lot of the points you people are addressing. ML liked the FL from the start before the whole love potion thing. The love potion just amplified it further. ML wanted to break up with his ex gf repeatedly but she kept coming back to him and the only reason he entertained her was because he was confused whether he truly loved FL or if it was the love potion Why? Because both his feelings for her and the love potion happened at the same time..
Also he knew that his ex gf was cheating on him the whole time ( so the whole thing about ML saying he should feel sad/guilty about liking FL even though he has a gf, was just him playing dumb to his true feelings aka being a tsundere). And throughout the whole show, you can see his character is the tsundere type lol.
The spells did work as you can see its effect on the antagonist (who drank a lot) and the team leader (who drank a little). The team leader also magically stopped hating on the FL too but he wasn't deeply in love with her because he only took a sip.
The cure disease spell didn't work because it was conflicted with the curse that the past life FL put on him.
The curse was removed after ML remembered all the events in his past life and the ML CONFIRMS this in the episode they first meet after he recovered from the hospital. Also confirms this in the last episode when ML says the doctor says he has no more health problems now.
The disaster spell didn't work because she made a mistake but also would of never worked regardless because there was no disaster in the first place. The FL had already developed feelings for the ML at that point in the show.
When ML saw past life FL running away at the historical site - that was just him remembering past memories in the exact location in his past life. Similar to the meeting at the bridge in the past life.
The side characters weren't even that bad. The ML parents scenes were hilarious and Park Kyung Hye's facial expressions always make me lol.
The romance and Kim So Hyun's cuteness carried this drama hard. This role really really suited her! i wish she had more roles like these because her previous roles in dramas really didnt suit her at all (last good one was in Bright it on Ghost). Some scenes i rewatched a bit because it was just too cute ><
Also Seo Ji Hoon is such a good actor as well. Saw him in Revenge of Others and loved his character there. He can play bad/good cop really well and would love to see him in some main lead roles in the future.
Hwang Min Hyun kinda felt the same as he was in Alchemy of Souls lol. Felt like i was watching the same exact character :/ However, I can't tell if that's because of the role he was given or that's how he normally acts because I haven't seen much of him. i loved this drama but it had a LOT of potential to be better. 8.9 is a bit overrated compared to other high rated dramas. i would say an 8.5 at best.
firstly, it would have been a 9/10 for me if they made the villain characters suffer more. or make them suffer earlier on? throughout the whole show the villains had their way with 0 consequences and we didn't get to see much in the ending either. i would have loved to see their rage! (a good example of a drama doing this is Vincenzo!)
secondly, would have been a 9.5/10 if the main characters showed more love. i know it wasn't supposed to be a romance drama but it felt like the female lead only started liking the male lead until the last few eps of the show. the main couple and their story in the beginning was so cute and i felt like more romance scenes would have helped a lot in re-watchability.
and lastly would have been nice if there was more action, guns, zombies in general, better music, (creepy music) and more horror scenes (jump scares for example). if the drama had all of this, would have been a 10/10 for me.
This drama is nice for a casual watch.. I love kdramas but i must say some of the criticism for this one is very valid. In my opinion the best part about this drama is its comedic value. The story, romance and fantasy part were lacking lots.. as well as the character development... If you love character development in dramas, you won't like this one.
