Sure, it doesn't have to follow the exact plot of the original novel, and I’m not a fan of the later parts of the book myself. But an adaptation isn't about adding unnecessary plotlines that literally no one asked for.

Coz the actress for Jenny is from the sponsor company behind the show’s production so there are lots of unnecessary plots that weren’t in the book. Also the bet in the book is just to have Wang calling Tian older brother… The original book is a slowburn for sure but makes a lot more sense tbh. I was fine with the adaptation until the last two eps coz it has went too far.
