From the moment Song Zuer said that Banxia is a human I already knew what to expect. It’s like Ren Jialun’s…
The ending is considered as "disappointing" by many and has sparked controversy over the writer Zhao Na. But you mean this ( ML and FL broke up) is just the typical ending of such story.
Finally I can read this. This is a drama I am interested in, partly due to the charming beauty of Sun Zhenni and the presence of Zhang Yaqin. Just before this aired, with pre-premier viewing in Youku, there were claims that its plot is very compact, with multiple travels to the past, making it "a xianxia version of An Ancient Love Song", with potential of becoming a dark horse. But this has flopped badly at viewership and heat index in Youku and on Douban it's merely a 6.9. This maybe due to a xianxia without anything obviously new or outstanding has literally negative attraction, and Zhang Binbin and Sun Zhenni are both weak in popularity. Also you should have been quite tired to conventional xianxia like domestic audience.
Finally over a month after you finished Flourished Peony, you published a review. Next review to wait is that of The Blossoming Love, which has somewhat mixed reception and a very low number of views.
This has just became the first drama to have 40M per-episode views that is exclusive to MGTV. MGTV-exclusive dramas tend to have much lower numbers of views.

Can you notice the extensive use of ancient Chinese literature (as well as other arts) in the drama, e.g The Book of Songs, Tang-dynasty poems and theaters? This is a major reason why Blossom has won favorable reception.
Well I don't need subtitles I just listen to the dialogue so how the lines are written and delivered are really…
You are not watching any modern, urban cdramas since the Hope. Why? Did they let you down? And why did you drop Ashes of Love. And you're probably lucky to skip some xianxias last year as they tend to use similar tropes, as there really isn't much room for innovation for this type. Except for modern, urban dramas, which still had a few good ones in 2024 but you are not watching anymore, most of top 100 dramas you did't watch are WORSE than those you have watched.
