Actually, I should have worded it more clearly and not been so rude, because I know how annoying it is when someone makes negative comments about something you like.

Actually, I never brought up the budget.
I only pointed out the titles because I believe the similarity is intentional, not a coincidence. After that I simply said what didn’t work for me and how disappointed I felt about a premise I had really liked. That’s all.

If they didn’t want comparisons, they could have chosen a different name for the series.
Budget and story length are one thing, but when you hear “The Last Oath” + zombies, most people aren’t going to think of The Walking Dead or Kingdom. The association is pretty obvious.

If they didn’t want comparisons, they probably shouldn’t have chosen a name and premise that sit so close to The Last of Us.
There are plenty of other zombie stories they could have drawn from (World War Z -Max Brooks is right there), yet they went with the “person who has the cure in their blood” angle. It’s been done a thousand times, and that doesn’t automatically make it interesting.
I expected at least some sense of a lived-in apocalyptic world. Instead, after four episodes, I’ve mostly watched them go for supplies, play guitar, and talk. That’s fine if the focus is purely on the BL relationship, but the show is being marketed as a zombie apocalypse story too. So far I’ve only seen one side of it.
They might reveal more about the organization later — or they might not. Either way, 80 minutes is enough time to give the audience a reason to stay interested. For me it just wasn’t there.

“The Last Oath” is not “The Last of Us,” no matter how much I want it to be.
I sound like a hater, but I genuinely wanted to like it. It makes me sad because I really liked the premise — a zombie apocalypse mixed with BL. It felt incredibly unique and full of potential.Unfortunately, the execution fell flat. It’s not just the use of AI. The dialogues are boring, the plot structure is weak, the zombies look and move strangely, and the group’s survival situation raises some questions. I also wish they had given us a few more hints about the Fireflies-like organization (or whatever they call it) and the technology they have.

The episode finished way too fast. It felt like it just started and then it was already over. 40 minutes flew by. And Viki told me Episode 3 is only coming in 7 days… 7 days feels like forever.

Before I watched it, I was thinking, “I want to see what Song Kang will do after becoming a Neohumans in Sweet Home 3.” But it started out so interesting… and I ended up watching both episodes. Even though I can already guess how the events will unfold, that it will cover painful topics, and that I’ll probably cry at the end… for now I’m all in.

They apparently already know each other. In the trailer, Moth says, “I thought I didn’t have feelings for him anymore,” which suggests he had feelings for Dean in the past. Meanwhile, Dean probably doesn’t remember him.

I really enjoyed this show. The premise was unique and kept my attention throughout, the characters were well developed, and it had a solid beginning and good pacing. My only real complaint was the ending — that whole “You know who she is. But do you really know who she is?” moment. I just wanted them to give me a clear answer instead of playing with my deductive skills.

I really want there to be more of Great and Dech in the present, not just in the last 15 minutes of episode 10.
