the chemistry
Storyline was decent but the editing of this drama really threw it off for me. The chemistry between the main leads was the main reason I watched the whole thing. I loved them so much that I even spent hours watching their bts.I also really liked that the FL was a badass. Bai Lu is so beautiful and fiesty. Xu Cai was adorable but I think it’s his character that was adorable not so much the actor. I tried watching a few of his other shows but nothing got me hooked like this one.
I wouldn’t really say this is a great show but I would reccomend if you’re looking for cute romance scenes to giggle over.

one word that best describes this show: EPIC
I just want to start off by saying Legend of Fuyao has been my number one show of all time until I finished Journey to Love. I recently finished story of pearl girl where I fell in love with Liu Yuning and found this drama after looking up all his dramas. It took me at least 10 episodes to finally really get into the show but once I was in, I couldn’t stop. Everyone was saying they hated the ending and I saw spoilers that it was a sad ending. However, I felt the ending was very fitting to the story. I actually felt it was a happy ending since everyone got the same ending? But I also hated how they threw in that last 5 min scene that kind of threw everything off and didn’t really make sense.sound track was amazing. I started rewatching it again immediately after finishing but I think I stopped because I needed to detox my obsession over this show.
oh and I am a sucker for morally gray main leads but Liu Yunings character was straight up green flag but I wasn’t mad about it one bit. It was refreshing watching a nontoxic power couple.
Lasty, the chemistry of the whole cast was what really sold it for me. Alen Feng’s character was a standout. I loved his duality of providing comedic moments throughout the show and finishing off with more mature serious moments. Oh and I forgot about the princess, I was amazed with her character growth.
I could go on and on but I highly recommend this to everyone.

It had potential
I became obsessed with Liu Yuning after finishing this drama. I loved how the story started but after episode 20, I felt it fell flat for me. They built up the side characters midway only to do away with them. I felt cheated. The "breakup" they had was for the dumbest reason/misunderstanding.The chemistry between the main leads should have been explored more and they should have left out the 10 eps of angst. I get it, this drama is about "pearl girl" but Liu Yuning's character had so much potential to be more.
Oh and by the way, how could he just leave her at the end?! I get it why but why? I don't mind sad endings but he could've stayed with her until his illness took his life and that would have been so much more than the betrayal. That last scene of her asking him not to leave her, still breaks my heart each time.

the bromance
People either hate this show or love it. I’ve had people tell me they couldn’t get over the fact that he was too old for her (considering her character is a high schooler and he is thousands years old) but for some reason I was able to look past that. TIL this day, this is still my number one kdrama. The chemistry between the entire cast was what made this show. It’s not often you get to see that in a show but when you do, it makes you feel like you’re part of the journey with them.
The good - the music. the visuals. the comedic moments.
the not so great - the ending (wasn’t a big fan of the ending). With that being said, it wasn’t horrible but it definitely fell short.
the bad - I can’t think of anything
