we are three quarters in and i do enjoy it. its a fun watch with minimal angst. i wasnt even bothered by the issues because i knew they'll get resolved. regarding the romance, i do feel a bit robbed. its only 20 episodes and they're trying to focus on their career ambitions, so i know that logically, there is minimal space for straight-up romance. what i dont undersatnd is why they are trying to fit three couples in such a small number of episodes. the poster led me to believe that it was going to be about chi and xinzhi, but its mostly just about her career, which is fine, she's trying to get a firm footing. however, with not one, but two side couples, their romance is a bit lost. i dont even mind the kiss situation, what i mind is that they sold me a different idea. maybe i wouldve been more receptive if it was longer, or was promoted with the three women as the main characters.

this is exactly what i was thinking. i love a feminist fl as much as the next person, but the fact that she loves him, he loves her, they know each other's biggest secrets and have a whole child together, but she still doesnt live for him? i leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
i think ive given up on expecting a satisfying romance after ep39. the show's still great, but its a mature 25 years together couple love.

so true. she was given the token when she was a maid. what makes them think she doesnt deserve the tokens when she is the wife of the first son?

the issue isnt skinship at all, for me atleast. the thing is that we have waited 39 episodes to see them in love. after A LOT of timeskips ranging from a month to 2 whole years, we finally see them get married again, for real this time. except we didnt get any sweet moments before that, all we got was: seeing her family's grave, TIMESKIP, talking about way of the heaven and jinqi finally seeing her pov, 2 YEARS TIMESKIP, sleeping together. i wished to see more of the time that got lost in the time jump. like you said, the romance should be subtle, but here it was NONEXISTANT. give us more, please.

AMAZING. otherwise writers always pull a jilted lover arc out of thin air in such scenarios. and the guy is so sweet and curteous and diligent that i would have dropped the show if he 'turned evil'
