7.5/10 For a vertical drama, it was some really good acting from the leads. But the story was more interesting when the leads interact with each other more-so than when they finally face off against the villains. It felt very lackluster, ESPECIALLY with how the first scene starts. You'd think there'd be more action, or them showing off their skills... NOPE. I guess the story suffers from things just going way too smoothly that it doesn't seem like a big deal *at all*.
Also, I'm wondering if there was a double ending? It felt like one ending was shown, then the alternate ending. I'll just say one was sucky, and the other was rushed. But then again, the whole ending scenes felt so rushed, because the pacing didn't really feel that way until then.
Anywho, I liked it for the most part. The leads looked good together, and this style really suits them both. I think the first half to 2/3rds has good rewatch potential. But most likely I wouldn't.
7.5/10 I liked this for the most part. But it would be A LOT better if the actress didn't do that cringey "word chewing". I was going to drop this, but I'm glad I didn't. I enjoyed this for everyone else's acting. And the only consolation is that her being so cringey made it more believable that her family would be scared of her lol, she really did seem unpredictable, crazy, and unhinged. So that's why I stuck it through. I'd be scared/disturbed by her too lol.
Well shoot, I was going to watch for Yan Zi Xian. Should I skip this then? I really like him in his current dramas.…
I'm going off memory, but Yan Zi Xian's character is introduced as a kinda simple, almost awkward slow-witted servant/worker. He joins the FL in her effort to start a ferry restaurant. He becomes a good friend and comrade with her. He even gets close with her dad (who is mentally handicapped) and the dad shares his *favorite* knick-knacks with him...
They experience an attack on her ferry boat, and try to survive together, but (iirc) theres a point where they get separated due to him getting captured and knocked out, and the boat gets destroyed and swept up in a whirlpool.
Well, it turns out, he's a spy - part of the villains. He wasn't actually captured and knocked out. He even goes back to her home and kills her handicapped dad with his own two hands!! COLD-BLOODED. iirc, her dad sees Zi Xian and is so happy! But he stabs the dad, and her dad drops his favorite knick-knacks that he shared with Zi Xian. They show it crashing to the ground, shattering my heart.
He wasn't a goofy, lovable, puppy-like character. He was a fckin wolf in sheep's clothing!!! I was so blindsided because he was my fave character because of how cute and easily it was to love him. So it broke my heart so bad. He had some allergies or something (he sniffled quite a bit), and the FL and her father were "good friends" to him, trying to help him build up his confidence and give him a place to belong, a place to fit in and call home. They treated him like family... my heart hurts just typing it 😭😭😭 But honestly, as much as it STILL hurts, I don't regret watching it. Fictional hurt involving your fave characters is a diff level of hurt. Kudos to Zi Xian for being able to pull it off so well that it MESSED me up lol. I was NEVER expecting that from his character who seemed so... safe.
I don't remember if he regretted it or not. But ofc they showed that the villains mistreat him and treat him as expendable. And he went and betrayed the only people who really loved and cared about him, for the ppl who don't give a damn.
She has beautiful voice (even sang Woodland song for The Untamed), but I guess, that here she was dubbed. And…
I looked up pics of her and her face is so chubby cheeked. She has such a cute look. Reminds me of Gong Hyo Jin (even though she plays tough girl roles a lot). Their smiles are so cute.
I liked this series. At first I didn't like the ML's looks, but next thing I knew, his character moved my heart. It got a little 'mmmokay lets move this along' around the middle and closer to the end, but I enjoyed watching this. I'm pretty picky and drop shows a lot, but I liked it enough to finish it. 8.5/10 Also, ML has a really nice crying face. I saved a few of the episodes where he was crying or pouty...
Anywho, the main point I came here is to talk about Yan Zi Xian.... That mofo had me feeling SO BETRAYED. Its to the point where I couldnt even watch My Uncanny Destiny. And now... I'm here writing this comment because Wu Tian Hao in Only Love You (2023) favors him. They kind of look alike. And theres a few scenes where they REALLY look alike, and I feel betrayed all over again. So I guess that's a plus for the actor and/or the story, because I'm holding this random, fictional hurt in my heart. I didn't know I'd be so affected by a character to where I can't even look at him without remembering that role he played. I loved his character that much. Man... I can't get over it.
Yep, Richard Li Fei never fails to dazzle the screen with his looks and kisses! But why he in miniseries only?…
This man really be scaring me ever since Seal of Love... bc I KNOW what he's capable of... LOL there's such passion in his eyes, and you KNOW he's gonna snap and just eat their face. (I really be telling the FLs to run from him. Like, "girl, look at his eyes! Runnn, bc if he catch you its OVER, honey")
Lol it takes me so long to watch his dramas bc I get such nervous energy. His screen presence is SOMETHING ELSE. He know he fine.
I can't believe ML is the cutie in The Killer is Also Romantic!! His vibe was so diff, I had no idea. But yeah, that ending was BS. They could've had like ONE more scene so it wouldn't be such whiplash.
The actor for Li Qi (General Wei's subordinate) isn't listed here, that's a shame for him :(
I think he's the same guy who played the prince on Decoy Princess, but he's not listed there either. I went to go find his name to see if he could be added here, but it turns out he needs to be added on both. I know Decoy Princess wasn't my first time seeing him, but idk where else I've seen him (I think another prince character). Truly a shame :/
Xin'er had some really good shrieks. A lot of times I roll my eyes at actors' screams, agony, and whatnot, but hers were good. Lol I know that is so random, but I think she did really good in her role (everyone else did a good job too, honestly). And she looked so cute when she went crazy at the end. So expressive. She really stole my heart (I wanna make that laugh my ringtone......) I look forward to watching more from her and the FL.
Wowwwwwwwww. Like I can't even give this a rating... bc wtf was that? I really enjoyed watching, right until the end. Literally, I liked it until that ending.
