Unlike other versions. In this one, the bandit heroine didn't appeared. There have instead a female childhood friend. The childhood friend dies early and the princess die in the end. So 5 of 7 wives end up together with Xiaobao. In this version, Xiaobao's feelings about his wives feel more sincere and vice-versa. As you can notice there have many differences in this version unlike other versions.
Well after watched a few episodes that disgusted me quite a bit i skipped straight up to the last episode. As expected a tragic ending for the male protagonist... ugh.
So there have like 2 stories with 2 MCs that intertwine. One about the real goku and the other one about the fake goku. The real goku is fun to watch but the fake one.. How much i hate everything about him!
To be honest older Jang Geum looks a bit too old for me. I'll keep watching but everyone around her look younger,…
Gosh the conspiracy with female lead's mother will last really looooong (almost the end), so those who are watching and expect that antagonists will get punished swiftly should give up this thought. They are the same antagonists through the whole drama and they will only get punished toward the end.
The beginning is such an headache to watch through for me. Dong Yi was so careless and reckless.. (other characters also said it) Let's not talk about her when she was still a kid (we can consider it as innocence as a kid). Examples : At Ep. 6, She already got 2 pieces of rock salts why she wanted to enter into the culprits' hideout alone? She could just wait outside and watch over the gates. At the end she and the king obtained nothing else and almost got killed. At Ep. 7 She showed her rewards given by the King before everyone, this is just inviting troubles. Golds, silks,.. she really think no one will become greedy and will steal her stuffs? She is just a 'slave' after all. (luckily nothing happened) There have many other examples but fortunately later it became better, we can say that it does have a character development. Overall this is good.
PS: This is definitely not the scheming and manipulative type of protagonist like 'Story Of Yanxi Palace' or 'The Story of Ming Lan' if this is what you are looking for. (besides toward the end) Dong Yi is an intelligent woman but not the cunning type.
The synopsis is such a spoiler imo though. The Empress only died at Ep40. I don't know for you but for me that's way too late as an event to put it in the synopsis.
Actually i found this 2nd season quite good. Of course the fighting scenes still need to improve but it was also so in the 1st season imo. This season don't really focus on Maeda but more on Nezumi and Center's friendship. I really like how Nezumi start to change starting from Ep.9. Emotionally good.
I also loved the previous versions. Quite excited for this new adaptation (and it's 60 eps!). Hope it won't have any big issues (like censorship) and won't get delayed.

For examples : some get bad ending even if in novel this is a good ending, in some drama the main lead 'wake up' at the end of the drama and all are dreams (not in novel) , etc. and in this drama they removed the beginning where the main lead is transmigrated but they left lot of hints that point out he has knowledges out of his era.
I don't know if they did it on purpose as a parody lol.
