I think by stitching he was trying to hold the blood flow because already enough blood had flowed that James was delirious and did almost die. Plus god knows how long the ambulance would have taken to get there. There's also the fact that James woke up after a week which is a substantial amount of time considering the blood loss and how long oxygen was not reaching his brain.

What the Drama Did:
Adapted the Changbai Mountain expedition, where the Iron Triangle searches for the mythical Heavenly Palace amid glaciers and avalanches.
Though it’s based on an earlier book, the drama reorders it so that these events occur after Ultimate Note chronologically.
Serves as a bridge leading toward the Bronze Door storyline.
