I found it entertaining. The pacing might put some off since there are long moody silences throughout. The story is vague but interesting.

The pacing can be slow but I felt it helped build the mood. The fight scenes are good too. I found it interesting that the entire movie is filmed on one room set.

I'm really looking forward to this! The series is great.

A goofy and sweet story. All of the kids were earnest lil beans. <3

Nothing about this movie played out as expected. Parts of it are about corrupt officials harassing people into selling their property. Parts of it are able Takeishi's mysterious past. Mixed in is a message about how destructive obsession over exclusionary culture and racial purity can be. And some good ol’ vigilante violence at the end.

As always Dean Fujioka played his role well even if it was a disturbing one.

Same here! This was my 1st drama, ever, in 2005. The ending scarred me a bit, I can't remember much of anything from it but the last few episodes and how I did nothing but bawl watching it. :(

Soooo cute, until the end. My hope is that the amulet glowing again means ML came back, but the scene on the scroll makes it seems ominous. I still wonder what happen to the creepy Snake guy and why the FL is important to the Origin realm?!I really hope for a S2!!

The "unfair" part comes from how the Japanese POWs were to be released back to Japan after they surrendered but instead the Soviet Union kept them as a slave labor force for several years after the war.

I highly recommend reading the original book, it's a wonderful read!

Palace drama, infidelity, obession, jealousy. Almost seemed like it was less Genji's story and more that of the women in his life. He was a spoiled man whore who was into women who looked like his late mother. Very dubious consent from a lot of the women he adds to his harem.
