I enjoyed throughout the show. At first, I thought 40 episodes (20 ep) was a lot but they should have make it longer. Then, there would be less plot hole and the ending pace would have been better. Now, I felt that it was a bit rush at the end. I gave 9/10 for me.
The story is light and easy to follow through so don't think that it's going to make you heavy.

Now, I am not going to talk about this drama. I am going to talk about ending in general.
Most people will say that the story is realistic if someone die especially main characters.
But if the story got happy ending, they say it is unrealistic and say nonsense.
Well, every story is in the hand of the writer and we can't change it unless we write our own story.
Why are people such a pessimistic? Let's be optimistic. XD

The title isn't humble prince but cocky prince. Although ML may talk harsh words, FL knows why he is talking like that. It is the heart that matter and FL finds ML hilarious.

Hands down. One of the best K-Drama Ever.
Must Watch. But don't expect it to blow your mind cos expectation is the downfall of your enjoyment.

But from what I have seen so far (YouTube), Yuwen Yue & Xing'er are what most people shipped & most people praise how genuine ML's love is.
Above this comment, you commented how bad his acting is and how he shouldn't be an actor. But in my eyes, he played his role brilliantly. I am sure that most people would agree with me.
For Yan Xun, he is the cause of troubles & growth of ML & FL. So, he is the key of trouble in the story but that doesn't means he should be the main ML. He and ML were best friend; how could he treat him badly later on. He is alive cos of ML and he played dirty to ML at the end and do bad things behind FL back that she hate. He is not an honest guy; not even to FL. He didn't investigate thoroughly and he held grudge against his own army (army under FL). Maybe, cos you are female you fell for him and blinded. There are many other male actors that I like but he is not one of them.
For the record, I have read the novel too. In the novel, FL is more straight forward imo. Maybe cos she is from 21st century.

But Yan Xun is the man. I don't understand what you means by this question; "Why would she choose the ugly old men?"

Damn! If I am super rich, I would have produce Season 2 with same casts. Plagiarize? Buy ownership or give shares to authors for drama. I am sure all the audiences would love it.
The story is good enough for me even if it is plagiarize.
Or can they make fund raising for Season 2? I want Season 2 even after reading novel.

You means 'Yuan Chun'? Yan Xun is a 2nd male lead.

Read the novel from the start. It is totally worth it. There is only little differences.

Read the novel and you will find some closure. I love both drama and novel. Actually, novel doesn't even have annoying scenes/characters as far as I can remember. It's been 1/2 years since I had read.
I don't know about you guys but I hated bookworm idiot a lot from the first time I watched this drama and I skip that part & 2nd male lead parts every-time I re-watched.

You are definitely Shawn Dou's biased. From your comments, I can guess that you are new to drama and have not much experience.
For me, I hated 2nd ML for being a bulldozer & can't let go of the past. If he has bigger heart and choose FL instead of his revenge/ambition, I would have ship him with FL.
Whenever I re-watched, I skipped 2nd ML's parts cos he is too annoying and inconsiderate. He is very selfish for his own good in short. I am talking about his character. I haven't watched any of his other drama cos of this drama.

OMG! I just watched from ep 53-54 by skipping quickly. This is really bad compare to 2003 Version. This one has different ending for Duan Yu.
2003 version still the best!
Only need to compare with 2021 version now.

Just watched a trailer but Demi Gods & Semi Devils (2003) still is better for me.

In 2003 Version;
Xiao Feng is more manly in appearance & action and the rest of the main casts are more beautiful & handsome for me. For the rest of the casts, I can't compare right now cos I have only watched trailer.

Duan Yu got happy ending and there is no sexual assault scenes. This story is not dark.

Their chemistry looked better than main leads when I got introduced by YouTube.
